Hello Fans and Faithful...

As many of us know by now, the Sycamores set an NCAA Three-Point record today.

I believe the record is: Most Consecutive Three Pointers in a Row - 12

Or, is the record: Highest Percentage of Three Pointers Made - 100% (12-12)

Or is it both?

I was there, and I could have sworn that RJ missed one from the corner. Maybe his foot was on the line.

Regardless, congratulations guys!

Looks like it's both...

Though, the source above doesn't specify most consecutive, our radio announcers did specifically mention the "most consecutive" record being 11 and it being held by two teams since 1987.

As for the highest percentage.....100% (at least 10 attempted), ISU baby!

As for second place: 93.3% Ohio St. (14-15) vs. Wisconsin .....Mar. 6, 2011

Foot was on the line for RJ.

The record is that Indiana State became the first team in NCAA history to shoot 100% from 3 point line. They also set the record for most consecutive 3 pointers made 12/12

Wins and Losses are the only stats that TRULY matter, but with that said, I'm soooo glad RJ's foot was on the line.

hey i'll take a good NCAA record any day of the week. it's crazy to think how many games have been played and we have the record. it looks to me like we broke 3 or them. most consecutive 3's. highest percentage (minimum of 10) 12-12 100%. and we had the most 3's still keeping the percentage at 100% (the team that we beat went 9-9). regardless that is pretty cool. :sycamores::wordyo::D:violent::)

the record is for the most consecutive 3 pointers to start a game, not consecutive 3 pointers "during" a game. That is the way I understand it

2 NCAA records today by ISU

From GoSycamores:

The Sycamores hit all 12 of their 3-point attempts in the game, including six from Printy. The 12 made field goals in a row during one game broke the previous NCAA record of 11 set by Niagara and Eastern Kentucky in 1987. Additionally, the Sycamores 12-of-12 3-point shooting performance is a new NCAA record for 3-point shooting percentange by a team making at least 10 attempts from long range. The 12-of-12 mark tops Ohio State's 14-of-15 performance (93.3 percent) on March 6, 2011 against Wisconsin.

Some interesting information from another Indiana State alum and friend of mine in Fort Wayne.

The previous record for the most 3's without a miss was set by Minnesota in 2009 on 9 for 9 shooting.

Apparently, no one has ever hit 10 of 10, or 11 of 11. That is why they referenced Ohio State and its 14 of 15 shooting as being the next best thing.

The new NCAA record set by ISU on Saturday is an anamoly for several reasons:

(1) ISU is last in the conference in percentage of 3's made (and 2's).

(2) We beat Southern Illinois who has the best defensive percentage in the conference.

(3) Jason Printy was 6-6. In three previous games, he was 1-17.

So the worst shooting 3 and 2 point shooting team in the MVC is unstoppable by the best defensive percentage team in the MVC.....and it's mostly done by a player who is known for his 3 point shooting, who has been in a major shooting slump. Go figure.

As the old saying goes, that's why they play the game.
