This would be a good get for the football program. If only we could land an awesome ready-to-play grad transfer for basketball now.

So has everyone already written off the JUCO QB we signed in February?

Should be an interesting competition. Both athletic guys. We might need them both if we’re going to more of a spread option that I’ve been hearing about. A guy coming from a B1G program is naturally going to get more attention than a JUCO, rightfully so or not.

Yeah, I get it. Our success on FBS QB transfers hasn't been good. Fouch and Perish are the only two that have made any sort of contributions in the last decade plus, no? JD Pride from Minny, Stutzriem from Wyoming, Coyne from Cincinnati, Kline from Cal, Caleb Watkins from Bowling Green never did much, if anything for us.

Hopefully this kid falls into the first group. Will be interesting to see how quickly he picks up Mallory's system. I'm curious as to how much overlap there is with Ferrentz at Iowa.

From what I’ve been able to uncover, he was a highly rated dual threat QB out of high school. TWO-TIME Gatorade Player of the Year in Iowa. I don’t know a thing about Iowa high school football, but that seems like pretty high praise. I’ll bet he didn’t fit too well in Ferentz’s system.

I’m hoping for more Ronnie Fouch, and less Calvin Schmidtke. (Pulled that one out of the deep crevices of my mind)

From things I’ve heard about practice I don’t think there will be much. Ferentz is still pretty loyal to the more methodical pro-style last time I watched Iowa and I’m hearing that this is a very QB-check oriented system with a ton of QB-designed run, option, and quick perimeter game. And I don’t imagine he’ll get here until mid-summer so that doesn’t give him a ton of time to learn terminology, etc. before camp. Boyle played some WR at Iowa though so it will be interesting how he and Kilpatrick match up athletically, because that seems to be important this season.

Two years of eligibility would be huge if true, granted he can make an impact. As long as he at least provides some competition I think it will be a good thing. Don’t think there was much to speak of otherwise.

Where is McCormick in the QB picture. The kid from East Noble that we gave a scholarship too. Is he still with the team?

If our program has to rely on a true freshman QB, we've made no progress. He will redshirt, learn the system and get a year of college lifting under his belt.

Jason...LOL. I never said anything like that.

Here's what I said. Where is McCormick in the QB picture. The kid from East Noble that we gave a scholarship too. Is he still with the team?

The core of my question was only, IS HE STILL WITH THE TEAM? Maybe I should have said, IS MCCORMICK STILL COMING TO ISU?

When I looked at what available roster information that's out there, I CAN NOT FIND his name.

I never said, wow and oh my god, I can't believe McCormick who is only a Freshman, is going to start for ISU!!!

So, the bottom line is, is he still with the team?

Thanks!

Painfully true! Red shirt for a frosh QB should be the norm.

And this is how one question, takes on a different life of it's own on SP.

Red shirting Freshmen, whether it's normal or not, and how painful that decision....is a different topic.

Hard to believe one question of "IS HE STILL ON THE ROSTER" can turn into a game of TELEPHONE.

With that, let's play telephone. I'll start, and then you take what I wrote, and then you post as you what you think I wrote.

An example might be is: "I saw my mother ride a stork."

Then someone could read that and think I said: "I gave my brother a ride to work"

As matter of fact, remember when we used to have those fun threads? We should really start a TELEPHONE one. It could be really hilarious!!!

Especially since most people, and I'll just include myself to avoid acting like I'm high and mighty, just see and read what they want to see.
