The All-American Level
Home opener has arrived! Free general admission today, wasn’t marketed really well, assuming because all the focus has been on basketball.

Beautiful day for some baseball at Bob Warn Field.

Keeps getting better!

Game Day Promotion Schedule
It's Fan Appreciation Day at the ballpark with free general admission to all fans, while autographed MVC/Regional Championship posters will be handed out to the first 100 fans. It's also Two for Tuesdays with fans able to purchase two hot dogs for $5 at the concession stand.

Illinois has an RPI of 120. After this game, we don't play a team outside of the RPI 100 until April 12th. Gotta take care of this one at home and then buckle up and buckle down for a brutal month-long stretch. I know we'll be ready for it!

Very nice comeback win at The Bob! Good crowd and don't blame Mitch for getting tossed!

Top of 9th threw two nice curveballs on the outside corner. Both called balls.

Mitch came out to visit the mound but instead gave the ump a piece of his mind. Must have said magic words because he wasn’t overly animated.

Funny thing is he didn’t even know he was tossed. Had turned to talk to his guys on mound at same moment ump tossed him.

THEN he became animated!

What was ridiculous about the whole thing was the ump followed Mitch all the way to the mound to continue discussion. Once the coach is at the mound just turn your back. Really poor behavior by that ump.

The game was great with the offense storming back and back of the pen shutting them down in the last few inning. Thought bro Spencer had some good stuff. Jared Spencer didn’t have his sweeping stuff, but was sitting 93-94 consistently.

Couldn’t have asked for better weather in a home opener and great crowd for March 12th!

Just saw the attendance numbers -- like 1500. That's flippin' awesome!
I know that we should expect bigger crowds than usual with the run we had last year and just all the momentum the university has with fan support right now. But college baseball in general is on a huge uptick in attendance numbers. schools that have been the gold standard in baseball are having the biggest crowds they have ever had.

The only real tangible change you can point to this is the pitch clock (which I love) but I think it has more to do with baseball not really being touched by NIL or the transfer portal yet. It seems like it's the last pure spectator sport in college right now (for the time being). Something to keep an eye on.

Another thing I love about college baseball is that everyone is still willing to play anyone and it doesn't matter where at. This game is a perfect example of that.
Yup, forgot to mention that. It seems like it's what college basketball used to be in the 90s and early 2000s.

Well, sort of. I’m not seeing any SEC schools coming to Terre Haute. I’m glad they schedule us, but it is always there. Some of that could do with the weather in Indiana during the SEC’s non-con schedule, I assume.
