Title IX....

A better question is WHY aren't me re-instating Men's and Women's Tennis??

Why is more "Title IX" needed? This news just makes me want to do a back flip but oh my aching back. Another money loser for athletics.

Recommend you ask Dr Bradley and / or Mr Prettyman...

We may be in full Title IX compliance today... maybe not. I'd simply say if we going to ADD teams; bring back the team(s) we've had past succes in... our tennis program(s).

AND it's an MVC-sanctioned sport...we'd be the 6th FULL Conference member (Missouri St, Illinois St, So. Illinois, Evansville, No Iowa)
and associate member, Arkansas_Little Rock

Maybe to offset the scholarships needed to move to fbs.....longshot I know but makes you wonder

I think the BIGGER news in that article was State ADDING a new bachelor's program (Architectural Engineering Tech) --- I'm sure our program will surpass ISU_Muncee's in the 1st semester

Wow. Adding Women's Swimming....talking about making waves!

This will be a big splash with Alumni, when they find out this tip-of-the-spear, ISU sports news flash!!!

Saw a blurb / Heard a rumor... that we used to have a women's swim team in the 1970s... shut it down in the early 1980s...

LOL...there were NO women's swimming teams in the 70's.

ISU had women's Field Hockey, Gymnastics, and Track....but not Cross Country, but did have Bowling, Badminton, and Fencing (more co-ed than anything else) and basketball...and that was about it...oh and no women's golf.

I have been very supportive of the moves President Bradley and AD Prettyman have made in the past. I don't like this one at all. Its another drain on athletic department resources & lord knows we don't need any more drains.

Sorry, but you are mistaken. Click on link and go to image 116.

Once in awhile, I make an error.....and I will admit it.....but basically what your saying is, you went through the 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976,1977, and 1978 yearbooks, and finally at the end of that decade, ISU finally had its first women's swimming team....and that was the only women's swimming team during that whole decade. Right? Well, I do stand corrected. Thanks!

We're going to have create some annual awards on SP, and recognize SP Bloggers for their talents. I want to say after this Gold Medal effort to prove that we had a Women's Swim Team in the 70's, that I hereby nominate you as the SP Research Specialist of the year!

Keep data mining 317!!!

Don't stick words in my mouth, for I did no such thing. I remembered it because I worked in the Burford, Erickson and Pickerel dining complex and the majority of the female athletes ate in that complex. I have no idea what year womens swimming started. Your hate is showing.

Geez...."my" hate is showing? Is that kind of like 'your rage' is showing, for making that comment? LOL!

Dude, lighten up....that wasn't necessary to say that. Now if you wanted to call me a "Smartass!!!", now that's the kind of respectful name calling I can live with.

If you had said that you remembered ISU had swimming in 1979, because you worked in Burford/Erickson....I would have believed you.

Enjoy the parade this morning, if you're in Terre Haute!
