Aaron Garretson (Peru HS) and Mark Crossman (Brownstown Central HS) in the 800
Derek Stinefield (Wapahani HS) and Kyle Smiley (New Prairie HS) in the 1600
Al Escalera (McCutcheon HS) and Smiley again in the 3200
Xavier Carr (Harding HS) in the High Jump, 4x100, 4x400
Brandon Query (Terre Haute North HS) and Austin Cline (Frankfort HS) in the 4x800

I'm going to make a post after the meet to let everyone know how these races turned out.

may be more athletes

This is only the list of guys that I know that have signed or have stated that they are walking on next year. Coach will have a list at the meet and I'll try to see who he will be watching for.

let us know! Some of are anxious to see how they do, it's too bad there aren't live results from the state meet.

recap of the state

I got to the meet just at the mile was getting ready to toe the line, so I wasn't able to see how Austin Cline (Frankfort) and Brandon Query (Terre Haute North) in the 4x800, Jared Miller (Bremen) in the 100 final, and Xavier Carr (Harding) was already out of the high jump.

The mile was a great race, but Derek Stinefield (Wapahani) was unfortunately unable to finish after being pushed off the track by Connor Martin of Westfield, who was DQ'ed afterwards. I didn't see the initial incident, just saw Stinefield on the infield on the homestretch with 1 lap to go. Kyle Smiley (New Prairie) ran a great race making a strong move in the last 400 to take 4th, almost surging up to 3rd with his kick.

Aaron Garretson (Peru) got clipped up in the slow heat of the 800, almost going down after taking it and making an attempt to lead from start to finish in the slow heat. Mark Crossman (Brownstown Central) ran an exceptional race, making a strong move toward the front with about 250 meters to go and held off 2-3 guys from taking his 3rd place finish coming down the homestretch.

Jared Miller (Bremen) looked awesome in the 200, coming off the turn and not backing down from being down early, taking 2nd after being 3rd-4th coming off the turn. Another 20 or so meters and he might have been able to catch Terrell from Ben Davis.

Al Escalera (McCutcheon) finished off the individual Sycamore performances by taking 4th in the 3200, running a great last 800, picking off 2-3 within the last 100 meters. Coach was really impressed with Escalera's performance and is excited for him to get to I-State. Smiley coming back from a great run in the mile, just looked exhausted. "I wish i could run one fresh," was what he told coach when him and Stinefield came up and talked to coach.

Looks like the incoming freshmen are going to be good, we know they can race as they showed us at state. I'm excited, just as coach to see how good and what an impact they will have on the cross/track team next year.

thanks for the review, it seems like more fast times and good results are ahead for ISU, when will the full signing class be announced?

ISU needs to land the junior from Pendleton Heights who jumped 13-6.25 to break the girls state meet record today. Also need to get Nathan Hendershot, who was 2nd in the boys 800 last night. He's a junior too. the two of them would be good recruits for ISU.

Not sure if anyone checked out the results from the Midwest meet of champions. Al Escalera won the 3200 in 9:11 and Kyle Smiley went 4:13 in the 1600. Both of course will be with the Sycamores in the fall.

i wonder is nathan hendershot is any relation to former sycamore gridder...

jack hendershot....he played here in the 1990s for raetz.....
