Now waiting to see if USD lets their coach go too after their 2nd winless year in MVFC play?

Odds that Tressel takes the HC job @ YSU? In effect -- hiring himself?

Doubt it. He's got it made now being in a position he really has no business being in.

Wisconsin-Whitewater's Lance Leipold is rumored to be the leading candidate. He also is apparently being sought for the Montana job. Has a career record of like 105-6 at UWW and going for sixth D3 title in 8 years.

True but if you are the Univ Pres AND the Football Coach, you can DO pretty much what you want no?

I don't he'll take the job... I was thinking he had a 'show cause' by the NCAA but I couldn't find a source to confirm that thought...

Pelini is a piece of crap. I imagine his ego is too big to accept an FCS coaching job after Nebraska.

He has a "Show Cause" penalty that expires in 2016.

Believe it or not, I have seen his name attached to the open Nebraska HC job. People seem to think that if Nebraska was really serious, they would be able to get the "show cause" lifted by the NCAA, therefore it wouldn't be a factor.

If I were Illinois or Indiana, I'd make a play for Pelini.

If I were Nebraska, I dont know what I'd do. Not sure tom Osborne is walking through the door soon and Craig Bohl is about as close as you will get. Im not sure he is welcome back.

Dino Babers might have a shot at one of these jobs in a year or so.

I dont know what Youngstown should do. Maybe go after Baber's OC at Bowling Green. He turned down the EIU HC job because he wanted more college experience.

The Youngstown area has a lot of good high school football and a lot of good high school football coaches.

It is something they should at least take a look at.

That is why I mentioned Pelini. He and the Stoops family are tied into Cardinal Mooney.

Pellini must have opened his mouth. Every time he does it causes him problems.

Sounds more like it was never going to happen at all.

Interesting paragraph:

According to Pelini’s contract, the NU athletic department owes him about $7.9 million through February 2019, an amount that would be paid in monthly installments on the condition that he make a reasonable attempt to find work. If Pelini accepts a job that pays him less than $150,000 per month, or $1.8 million per year, Nebraska would owe him the difference.

That'll be an interesting experience. ISU had better up their game re: facilities. Everyone else is upping the ante, with facilities, coaches, overall comittment, and we need to keep pace to stay competitive.

Good hire for YSU.
