read on footballscoop.com that it's close to a done deal that Trent Miles will be Western Michigan's next head football coach. Just a rumor website but they usually have very good information.

It's probably true, but I find it hard to believe as I would have thought when he did leave it would have been for a bigger program.

Okay, here's what it actually says:

"Western Michigan: Multiple sources telling us that Indiana State head coach Trent Miles will likely be offered the head coaching position at Western Michigan. More to come... Update> Sources close to Indiana State head coach tell us this is not finalized."

Being offered a job and accepting a job is a huge difference.

earlier when i read the site, it said it was a done deal. they must have changed it. only posted it cause it said deal was done

Western Michigan rivals site interviewed Coach Miles. He denied even speaking to Western. For twitter users you can follow WMU rivals guy @WMUrivals on twitter. He seems to have most accurate information

Our news guy who is generally right on said miles is the new coach over at WMU, personally that program is so terrible I would have stayed at ISU, oh well it happens, good thing is his seed is planted should help

WMU folks are tweeting that Miles is their new guy...
I was HOPING that he would stick around for the last 2 years, but I wish him the best.

"That is not true. I have not been in any communication with Western Michigan University whatsoever. I'm flabbergasted." -Trent Miles.

I don't know where that's coming from. I've been out recruiting all day and just got back to my hotel and saw all of this. It's not true."

All from @wmurivals on twitter.

This was not the FIRST nor will it be the last totally fabricated "rumor" drummed up by someone out there to stir the pot. We might as well get used to them. My guess is that at some point, some may become "a possibility" but let's NOT panic every time we see one of them. Coach and this team left much on the table and although we had hoped for a dream season this past season, we did not get one. When that dream season is realized, that is when we should worry about every rumor.

That's Boda's call but as they say, "it is what it is". If we were playing in the playoffs, I would be VERY nervous but until that happens, frankly, he is unlikely to get anything BUT Western Michigan. Why do we always seemed to be joined at the hip with WMU? Players (both good AND bad), coaches, cheerleaders, pop corn vendors etc?

We got Bill Bender from them in the early 1980s as a basketball transfer, in addition to Perish. Bender was killed in a car wreck a few years ago. Sort of Bird look-a-like, but not play-a-like.

Glad to see that they are right on top of the coach at Colorado School of Mines, that may be on the move. Hot site~
