I feel sure they will. They probably had to give ESPN first dibs on the games, since national broadcasts trump regional ones. Now that ESPN has made their choices, FoxSports should have a schedule out soon.

Hopefully we can get a few home games since ESPN is coming to the Hulman Center only one time this year.

Anyone know if the MVC will still have a regional TV package with the folks at FoxMidwest?

I think the FoxSports deal may be done. All of the things that Doug Elgin said in the article seemed to point toward this being an "exclusive" deal...

In the opening paragraph it states that this is the first year of a 5-year deal.

And would that one time this year, be equal to all the other times ESPN has been in the HC in the last 30+ years?

Does anyone know how many times ESPN has ever been to the HC to broadcast a game? It sure couldn't be very many.

If ESPN comes this year to the HC...it better be packed, or we need blue blowup dolls and mannequins to fill the seats, or it may be forever until they are back again.

I mean why would ESPN come back to the HC if the place is only 2/3 or 3/4 full? Don't other other Mid Major school like us, sells their games out when ESPN broadcasts their home games?

If the NBA season is cancelled, look for some additional college games to fill the void (i.e. 1980 Olympics/Boxing)...

They've been to Butler plenty of times over the past few years and they don't sell out too many games, it is just too dark in the Fieldhouse at night to be able to tell.

Good points...but Butlers national exposure due to success in the NCAA tournament and winning against The Bigs in regular season, goes a long way in having ESPN repeatedly come to your place to broadcast games, regardless of attendance. Is there any Big Ten school that Butler hasn't beaten? Is there any big conference, that they don't have multiple wins over the teams that compose them? And advertisers are interest in a winner...

Plus Butler is a brand, recognized coast-to-coast. What's our brand? Heck, we can't even get frickin' newspaper coverage in our own state.

Name the people or identify the demographics who would want to watch us regionally, or nationally besides a few diehard basketball fans who will watch any game, some fellow MVC fans, and us.

Lighting & Attendance

Actually a good point about the darkness of Hinkle -- the lighting Hulman Center needs adjusting. Way too light ...........not very dramatic .............overly expouses empty seats.
Only a few of the lights above the actual seats need be on during game time, and then all of them above the actual court should be on.
Back when Purdue had "Mackey Magic" they would have most of the lights on during pre-game then dramatically turn off most of the ones above the seating areas just before tip off -- the crowd would roar at that point and you knew it was "game time"

You are so right right about the lighting. Several years ago, they put new lights in HC, and that made it way too bright. The brightness is compounded by the fact that the upper level seats are still yellow and orange, which stand out like a sore thumb when on TV. Cut most of the upper level lights, at least!!!
