In addition to Drake kicking our a$$ all over the court............................................

Missouri State wins 77-65 over #19 Creighton IN OMAHA.

Wichita State wins on the road at Peoria as expected.............but 90-51 ?

All I can say is it is a 18-game conference season.............................

Woohoo!!!! Just as I thought! Creighton is McDecommit tabs that is all! Sorry to see the trees fall but Drake might be better than some expected, gotta protect home and steal a few on the road.

Glad to see the Bears get one on the road over the Jays. Too bad we didn't show up at Drake.

An interesting comment taken from a post on the Creighton fans board:

"I don't think any less of the Jays' potential than I did at approximately 6:55PM tonight. Missouri State spent Christmas break hearing about how Creighton was going to roll the league. Creighton's players spent their break hearing family members tell them how great they are."

We may have subscribed to some of that same stuff that the Creighton players did ? OK, time to get over it !

I think that is a given, but not just over Christmas break. Our guys have been hearing it since last spring. They should know how tough the Valley is though, especially road games. Still no excuse for that poor second half last night.
 
No one in the league can take any other team for granted as usual.Play less than your best and it will be tough especially on the road.It remains to be seen if Drake is really that good or just had a hot game but we will have to play better consistently or everyone's in for a good deal of dissappointment.As stated above,that's why they play the games!
 
From what I saw of the game, most teams in the country would have had a hard time with Drake last night. They were hitting everything.

Agreed. I also think some of us are underestimating Drake. Drake has talent and they don't really play any seniors for extended minutes, so next year they will be a top 3 team in the Valley. They are athletic and for us to win, we have to make them play our style. We have to make them work for shots and not just use their athletic ability to get to the basket. When they come to Terre Haute, we will have to make them grind out each possession, because we don't have the athleticism that they do.

Now, that is the last thing I will probably say about the game. It was a good win for Drake, and a poor start for us, but we are only 1/18 of the way through the Valley season and last year we all griped about losing to E-ville and everything turned out fine. Lets go scalp a few Braves (can I say that without the Federal govt. arresting me for hate speech?) on Saturday and get back to the business of winning.
 
Nothing really new about top teams having a pre league season and then when getting into the MOVAL then beating each other's brains out. from top to the bottom. The parity is about as usual, and this was just one game. By the way the team needs our support now !! Let's hear it Saturday. !

I would love to be at the game today, but as usual, I am stuck at work. I think ISU must check my work schedule before they make the basketball schedules. It must be a conspiracy!
