ST. LOUIS – Indiana State senior shortstop Tyler Wampler (West Terre Haute, Ind.) was one of seven Sycamores honored by the Missouri Valley Conference with post season recognitions as he was named the MVC Defensive Player of the Year along with being selected to the MVCC All-Conference First Team, and named to the MVC All-Defensive Team. He is the first Sycamore to be named the MVC Defensive Player of the Year.

On April 21st I said: Keaffaber, as a freshman, is the best young arm we've seen in many years. He can start, long-relief or even set-up and close. Highly flexible. And he has a .213 opposing batting average, with a 2.43 ERA. Pray that he avoids injuries...like we saw with Tyler Browning after a great freshman season in 2010. Browning never got back to any sort of form. And, Keaffaber is starting out even better than Sean Manaea! Ryan Keaffaber will be a hot commodity if he continues to ramp up his ability.

And, The Fungo said: Kid is tough as nails...should have a darn good running for MVC freshman of the year !! (providing he stays healthy and tough as nails)

The Fungo hit the nail on the head! Congrats to Ryan Keaffaber!!

It's a total crock that Hannahs didn't win COY. Picked seventh, finished second, with the league's highest RPI by far. Ridiculous...

The more I think about this, it is a total crock. Hannahs came in late in the season, probably didn't have much to do with the schedule, didn't recruit any of these players, played the hand he was dealt, picked to finish 7th in the conference, and all he does is come 1 game away from having a share of winning the MVC. Nothing against Evansville's Coach, but he didn't face the obstacles that Hannahs did.
