Maybe im just the old guy that is yelling at a cloud. But as a coach I would dread coaching any player or interacting with any family members that would make their decision solely on stuff like this.

Yep. To some extent, I'm glad college athletes can earn, but that video is too much.

I remember when Wichita State players Cliff Levingston and Antoine Carr drove their Cadillacs to a HC game around 1980. Smithson ran a DIRTY program there.

On the ISU fan FB page I saw where Avila's Cadillac model he's now driving starts at $94,000. I guess $LU has two very rich donors between Chaifetz and Bommarito.

That $61K is the known amount for one season (1985-86 "academic' year), from the fund established AFTER they were already on probation. It doesn't include the $850,000 paid to the AD (Bob Hitch), his secretary (Henry Lee Parker) and head coach (Bobby Collins) received to KEEP the slush fund quiet. The $850K was verified by the United Methodist Church's investigation into the scandal.

The $61K doesn't include all of the monies that were paid out BEFORE the investigation began during the Ron Meyer era; when Meyer was known to put his business card on a HS bulletin board with a $100 bill behind it.

SMU was on probation 7 times between 1974 and 1985 - 7! While participating in what is arguably the most scandal ridden, dirty-program laden conferences in the HISTORY of ncaa conferences!
