The All-MVC Level
I have been posting the data for players and combinations since the beginning of the conference season. 10 games into league play, I thought it might be interesting to collate the results to learn if we have some combinations of players who are particularly effective playing together, or perhaps the opposite.
The first thing I learned is that the number of combinations over these 10 games is far larger than I ever expected. I have found 50+ different combinations, with about 30 of those seeing the floor together a single time. AND, I don't even include the 4-6 combinations that play less than one minute together each game.
If one considers that the second group only has 30 minutes of court time together, that is only 3 minutes/game on average. Some of that is Vorst being hurt, but it still seems extraordinarily small.
Of course, injuries to MH and DV and then HH have played a role in that; however, it does seem like a lot of juggling.
10 games with a total of 4 OT periods is 420 minutes of playing time. A team that is 2-8 in conference play is racking up a lot of negative +/- values.
Wagner & Scott show up in each group exhibiting both + & - values.
Sterling Young is only in two groupings with top minutes and is +23 and +8.
Groupings 2,3 and 4 are all positives with 80+ ppg output rates. Seems we should try to see more of these combos.

JVB, Wagner, Scott, Hall. Vorst..................70.83...............-37..........................0...........................................6...........................1.19-1.71...........................1.42......................................Not a winning combo
Young, Wagner, Scott, Hall, Vorst.............30.05................+23.......................3..........................................1...........................1.25-2.41.............................2.14........................................Much better but 30 min/10 games
Alocen, Wagner, ESB, Scott, Hall...............18.25................+2.........................4..........................................1.............................1.03-3.15............................2.11.....................................One bad segment. Winner?
Alocen, JVB, Wagner, Scott, Vorst.............18.75................+8........................2...........................................1...........................1.61-2.72..............................2.07....................................Good also
Alocen, JVB, Wagner, ESB, Scott................15.5....................-8.........................1..........................................3...........................1.18-1.75.................................1.49..................................Bad
