The Odum Level
Well, it's never too early for a what-will-our-record-be-next-year poll. Maybe we can do one now, another one after the signing period and one more just before the start of the season. Let's see where everyone's expectations are. I think it's more interesting if we try to keep it realistic.

The schedule:

Sat, Sep 03 Penn State at State College, Pa. TBA

Sat, Sep 10 Butler Memorial Stadium TBA

Sat, Sep 17 Western Kentucky at Bowling Green, Ky. TBA

Sat, Sep 24 Youngstown State * Memorial Stadium TBA

Sat, Oct 01 South Dakota State * at Brookings, S.D. TBA

Sat, Oct 08 Northern Iowa * at Cedar Falls, Iowa TBA

Sat, Oct 15 Western Illinois * Memorial Stadium TBA

Sat, Oct 22 Illinois State * at Normal, Ill. TBA

Sat, Nov 05 North Dakota State * Memorial Stadium TBA

Sat, Nov 12 Missouri State * at Springfield, Mo. TBA

Sat, Nov 19 Southern Illinois * Memorial Stadium TBA

Well, I said be realistic and I went with 7-8, which I actually think might be a little too bold. It's a tougher schedule. Four road games in the first six and the conference is only going to get tougher by the looks of things. Still, I think 7-4 is a reasonable goal with a winning conference record. I think we can upset Western Kentucky. It's going to be an interesting year. If our defense progresses and our offense doesn't suffer any setbacks we're going to be a very, very good team.

Bumping this in hopes there might be more discussion about it. I think it's a really difficult schedule. Of course you never know this far ahead how some teams will perform, but all of those road games to start the season makes me a little nervous.

My heart says 7-8, but reality says 6. I'm hoping this is the year we beat Southern. SDSU will be tough on the road, as will UNI. We may get to 7 if we can beat W. Kentucky or SIU.

Here is another way to look at it. What is the fewest number of wins we could have for you to not be that disappointed? I'm going with three. I think we should be able to expect at least that many victories. With a tough schedule it's possible we could suffer a down year before continued success. Hard to think we won't win more though with Fouch and all of these young weapons he has. The big question is how much can the defense improve.

I expect us to win all our home games next year so I'm going with 5. I would hope 7+ is a realistic goal.
