How many did they pick? Ten? As much as I love my namesake, considering that list and the fact there were only 10, we'll give them a pass. I have been to the All-American Rathskeller at Penn State and it is a serious bar. I am not trying to insight a riot amongst all you IU haters but frankly if Nick's Old English isn't on the list, they don't know what they are talking about anyway. I am not sure I have ever been in a better college bar than Nick's in Bloomington.

Do you guys know how many tell me that the Ballyhoo is too fancy today and that they like the old bar with the old booths with the dried puke on them and the exterior that looked more like a billboard than a bar? Over 50%. If it did any more improvements, the oldtimers might rebel although put me on the side who loves the exterior now.

See the awkward things are what makes the Bally awesome to me...the guy who is entirely creepy sitting in the corner who decides to sing karaoke. The guys who decide they are über tough guys with their fake tans and Ed hardy shirts. The true mediocrity of their pizza blows my mind when I am three sheets. I believe that the people and experiences make the Bally not the bar itself.

Doc, I totally agree. (Well almost). I live for Bally pizza and I wouldn't remotely, even blitzed, claim that it is mediocre. I seek at Pizza King pizza when I am not in Terradice and when I find it, it never quite meets the mastery of taste that I get at the Hoo. It's all the extra grease.

The Bally doesn't even have the feeling of a college bar anymore. I love it, always have! But the kids don't really go there anymore. Last time I was in there at midnight on a Thursday night there was maybe 20 "college kids" in there and about 100 people much older than college age that were from TH. Most of the college kids have moved over to 7th and Elm, Copper Bar, etc. Let me clarify that, without question the fraternities and sororities do not hang out at the Bally all that much anymore. When I was in school at ISU, 75% of the people at the Bally where Greek, now maybe 10% are. They pack them in, but it is a whole lot of locals and not so many college kids.

I love the Bally and almost always make a stop in there when I am in TH. I agree with Bally #46 I LOVE the pizza and make special trips just to get it. It is great and the breadsticks are great too! Stromboli's are great too!
