It is obvious that the Lady Sycamores are struggling. Lately, blowing leads and losing close games has been the norm. So why are the Sycamores falling down. I think the "root" of the problem may lie with Coach Wiedie himself. I have not been very impressed with his decision making as of late or his lack of professional demeanor. He heavily recruited one of the best scorers in Illinois who despite lack of playing time, opposing defenses know she is a shooter. So why is he underutilizing the assets he has available to him that he worked so hard to get. You would think in a game where 3 pointers are needed in the final minutes you would put in your leading three point shooter. I followed this lady's career in high school and she had one of the most complete games that i saw out of any high school player in the state (shooting,defense,rebounding,passing,playmaking,etc).
Her former coaches said she spends hours in the gym constantly trying to improve her game and continues to do so. There are others on the team being underutilized as well.

I question the integrity of this coach. Has he been honest with his players or just tell them what he thinks they want to hear? One thing is for sure, changes need to be made. Whether it be the lineup or the coaching remains to be seen.

The team is underachieving, but Wiedie is responsible for the success this team has had in recent years. Obviously the coach gets the blame when the team struggles and the praise when it wins. I'm just not ready to jump on him yet.
 
i think its hard to blame a coach though when your number one player is not hitting the shots she used to. Kelsey Luna is a great athlete but as of late has been struggling to hit the shots she used to. She is currently not our leading 3 point shooter as that goes to Brit and Shannon is shooting an astounding 60% from the field. Shannon has taken nearly 100 fewer FGAs then Kelsey yet only has 8 fewer FGs. We need Kelsey to get back to her scoring ways.
 
its no secret that luna is considered our best player and with that she has taken more contested shots being that she will have the opposing teams best defender on her everygame. this will cause anyone's percentages to drop.

coach wiedie does not needed to be blamed for anything. its a joke that he should be considered a "root" for any problem. maybe he is not playing this player u speak of statman cause simply she may not be the best option to be put on the court.
 
It takes "the person that STATMAN is referring to" a long time to get her shot off.... especially compared to Kelsey and Brittany.

So what is the difference between last years team and this years team? On paper this should be the better team yet people weren't throwing in the towel last year like they are now.

You obviously havent seen her shoot the thousands of shots she takes off of the ball gun. Sometimes you may be observing a little hesitation in her shot which tends to happen when you are playing on a short string that could yank you back to the bench especially when some players have a whole spool of rope to go through before they would get yanked. The shots that you say are gotten off quickly look fine when they go in which isnt that often but they look like crap when they miss. This team definitely lacks in court vision. You can go back and watch the tapes of how often they miss getting the ball to the open person. Until these ladies start playing more as a team than as individuals, the downward spiral is likely to continue.

im guessing ur close to this player and just mad about her playing time
 
coach said in an interview he was sending "this player" a message because of the way she was practicing, which i have no problem with.

yeah sorry for bringing it up. Funny though it seems statman was actually pretty accurate about coach wiedie.
