How can you beat the pitching display shown last night by both pitchers? One of the best college games you'll see on the mound. Petricka did step it up a notch and Jordan was superior in the loss to ISU.

Today, the Sycamores will have to keep The Shockers on the ropes by scoring first and not allowing freebies, such as walks and errors. Like we said about Petricka in our pre-game write-up yesterday, today's starter, LHP Joe Rodriguez (3-1, 4.91 ERA) will also have to step it up a notch, even from his glowing performance last week against The Citadel.

The opposing pitcher is Tim Kelley (5-1, 4.25 ERA) who has settled down in conference play a bit, but in his last three starts has an opposing batting average of .346, with 14 strikeouts, and eight walks in 20 innings of league play. Sooooo, if our hitters are in-tune, this could be a day to score some runs.

The weather is perfect, although a little cool. Look for sunny skies and a temp of 60-degrees with NNW winds around 15 miles per hour.

Today's game will be broadcast on WBOW (AM 1130 & 1300) and available on Live Stats. The link to both is below:

wow, Browning with 2 key saves in 2 days! Great win today, I wonder how long it's been since ISU has won 2 straight series over WSU???

Unlike last night, this game was more about good, gritty come from behind baseball. Rodriguez wasn't at his sharpest, but managed to limit the damage and the offense came back with a couple of two-run innings late in the game and held on to win 5-4. The Sycs take the series for the first time in 11 tries in Terre Haute. And, ISU wins the series in back-to-back years. Last year's series win against the Shockers was in Wichita. Two out magic from Ferrell and Burnam made the difference today. The Shockers haven't been able to deliver with two outs the first two games. The announcer for Wichita said, "They don't have the action and the look of a team that has it."

The Shockers have lost four in a row...three of those conference match-ups.

It'll be interesting to hear Gene Stevenson's pre-game show Sunday at 12:40 (ET) on KNSS. I imagine he's fit to be tied.

The last time WSU was swept was exactly a year ago against Missouri State. Those three losses were part of an eight game losing streak...then, as we know, they toughened up and won the conference tourney. We need to play tough Sunday...just like we have been. We can be vulnerable if we let down at all.
