Bit of a size difference for Kelly when driving the basket or shooting over someone. Menser gave his most with heart and effort and I would expect to see a lot of that from Kelly. They will probably get the chance to go one on one a few times and I'll bet Menser can still teach him a couple of things to make him better?
Lets not forget that Menser led all Div I point guards his senior year in assist to turnover ratio at (I believe) 5-1. If Jake can average something close to that playing the point, then we will talk.
If what he shows in his video is any indication, he is ahead of Menser, Green, Williams on our all-time list.

Jake could play in the NBA.
That being said, his assist-to-turnover ratio will probably not be as good as menser's. He is not that type of player. He drives to the basket more, which leads to more turnovers.
Jake is a better defensive player. Not to knock menser at all, he was a very good defensive player and very, very, very quick. Jake is very, very, very long and quick.
By the way, Jake Odum is very long and quick as well. Odum is a similar player to Jake Kelly defensively.

I don't even want to compare the two. Menser brought so many great memories to Sycamore fans. He made us all proud to be Sycamore fans while he was here. He was the leader of a lot of great teams!

He will not be able to match the assist to TO ratio that Menser was able to accumulate. Just not going to happen. Menser was likely a better 3 pt shooter than Kelly is. Jake is a much more athletic player than Mike was. This kid has the ability to stop and pop or go all the way to the rim and yam it. Both Mike and Jake have ONIONS!

morgan...the only reason that i posed the question....
is that i saw a lot more of menser than i have seen of kelly...so i was trying to get a better idea from those who have seen jake play...as sort of a point of reference....for me....not comparing the two...like who is better...just trying to get a feel for what kind of player kelley is....that's all...not trying to create any controversy or anything....lol....

If you want to get an idea, think of Menser offense in a Nate Green body.

I was not sure what you were getting at. I think Jake Kelly will be in a pretty elite class when all is said and done. I don't think him going to the NBA is a reach what so ever at this point. He has that type of body and he has put up numbers in the Big Ten to show he has the ability. He put up good numbers in high school both at Marshall and in the MIC conf. at Carmel. He is just a very athletic guard. His size and ability to create of the bounce make him tough to defend.

The Renn Level
Tony Freeman at SIU. He will be playing next year for the Salukis. He doesnt have the same type of game, but def. on Jake's level talent wise.
Love dirt track racing and racing in general... I have seen so many great drivers race at the Action Track in TH. (Jeff Gordon, Ryan Newman, Tony Stewart, Kasey Kahne, JJ Yaley, Kenser Family) just to name a few... I have seen a lot of sprint car racing in my life and I love it!
I'm thinking a Jamaal Tatum (Southern Ill.) type player with a little more size. Or a Lenoard Huston (Drake) about as athletic as Huston just a better shooter and scorer. About the same size and body type.
