Much like IU, I'd imagine we are persona non grata with ND from now on.

In other words, enjoy it.

If we could somehow someway be a regular within the top 40 RPI, then these in-state schools would drop their elitist attitudes.

Takes a long time, though. Look at Butler, they still have trouble getting the "big boys" to come to Hinkle...

Would be nice to see IU schedule us next year so that the Etherington brothers could play against each other. The Scott brothers will get to play against each other the next three years thanks to Matt Painter at Purdue for giving us a 2-1.

Would love to see some bigger schools that recruit Indiana kids come to the Haute to play so that a players family could see them, a la UNC playing at Evansville so Zeller could play one game close to home. That would be classy, which is why in IU's case it won't happen.

For some strange reason I don't feel like Brey views scheduling us as a bad thing at all. It's hard to explain--it's like we earned respect today. I'm hoping for a 2 for 1 deal with in the next 6 years.

Their veteran poise was better than our veteran poise,” said Brey, who had been 48-0 at home in November during his 14 seasons. “Disappointing for us. It wasn’t us not playing well; it was Indiana State imposing their will on us on both ends of the floor.”

I agree, he said in the article before the game that he knew we were a very good team and had even visited the dorms during the week trying to get the students to come out. I think he will schedule us again.

I think Brey will use this loss as a positive. It all depends on what a coach wants in the early part of the season. I remember reading an article where Coach K said his team gets plenty of challenges in the ACC to get ready for the NCAA tourny and didn't need a strong pre-conference schedule. Then you have Tom Izzo who will play anyone it seems.

I think Brey wants his team to be challenged and doesn't want to just give them a bunch of easy W's to pad his stats or the teams ego. I think he wants them to get better each week, and it is harder to do that if you are winning by 30 each time out. Brey said he looked at playing us like an ACC game and that is why he scheduled it, to get his team ready for a new, tougher conference.

Serious question--would having the Irish in the Hulman Center be a sellout? We know the Forest would be large and growing, loud and proud. Would this attraction bring in Wabash Valley residents, students and alumni to be a SRO event? Obviously I'm still hoping for the 2 for 1 deal.

After not selling out the Larry Bird game, I'm no longer convinced we could ever sell out a game unless it's against IU.

I wouldn't count on it.

The Hulman Center would sell out if u had--The Larry Bird Shootout--at the beginning of each season. ISU--Butler--IU--Purdue--ND--Evansville. You have all regions of the state represented in celebrating the greatest player in Indiana basketball history!
Now that would be on the level of the ole IHSAA one class tournament!
I know I'm dreaming---but that would get big time nationally coverage!
