Oh there’s plenty of blame to go around to multiple players, but I’ll stand by my criticism of Tre. If you’re going to play starters minutes in the 14th game of the year I think the training wheels are officially off. JB sucked royally tonight and I’m still curious about that blown last second layup. Neese didn’t score the ball but he played decently defensively. Tyreke played a tough game, but you have to hand it to Isaiah Brown who is a terrific defender and 4-5 inches taller than him.

Tre has a long way to go defensively and I haven’t seen any improvement in that department lately. He seems like a great kid who plays his ass off and I love what he’s brought to the team overall, but that nor his grade level excuses his PNR and help defense in these last two games.

Really both freshman have a long way to go on D and that’s okay - did anyone really think they’d be giving us the minutes they are? Brons played well tonight - gotta hand it to him. But we’re literally getting nothing else they’re being asked to do an awful lot.

I’m sorry - I think your frustration with him is a bit misguided. We agree it wasn’t his best game but again - if I’m casting blame (and I’m really not interested in doing so tonight) I’m not casting at him. But it could be debated - the rebounding is what lost us the game and some key turnovers so you definitely have a case - but I’m really not buying blaming a freshman on the road in the second conference game of the season... He wasn’t great but he was far from terrible.

Maybe I’m being too critical, but maybe Lansing might once in awhile be a little creative and draw up a play for a specific player having a tough night like Neece was to hopefully get him kick started. I’m fighting myself to stay away from Lansing’s coaching, but I don’t think on game night he can coach his way out of a wet paper bag.

lot of season left... time to regroup, next two games are in Hulman; Trees have a 55-27 (.670) record in home Valley games

Nope - not the solution. Wait your turn - we’re not playing your game during the season. After the season - have at it but not now. Be better than this - I believe in you. This place isn't going to turn into Southern IL or any other place that acts a fool like this over a head basketball coach, it's just not going to go down like that.

So now you are dictating what I or anyone else can post? Give me a break. I am still waiting for your pinned FIRE GREG LANSING post you said you would be posting? The last I knew Svoboda was in charge of this forum not just some loudmouth in the stands that thinks he is.

I'm not dictating anything. You can post it - the only self-interest I had in making the thread was to keep it out of the game threads every time we lose. If people want to have that conversation then have it - you don't need to spout off every time we lose.

I'm simply saying - you posting that is bad look and not accomplishing anything. Your personal vendetta against him is ignoring a lot facts that really just don't work in your favor. The day will come that GL is not our HC - that day comes for most mid majors eventually. But firing a coach doesn't solve some of our deepest issues here at Indiana State - it doesn't move the needle at all really.

So you can keep posting whatever you want - I will continue to do me. Good luck sir.

Couldn't agree more. I was told by alumni he wins 20 games this year or his ass in grass. He isn’t getting to 20 wins this year or any year at any given venture that is naive enough to hire Mr. Predictable. Don’t forget many sources indicated that this was the Mole reporting to Iowa’s administrators during Alford’s run in Iowa and got canned when Alford found out about it. He thought by doing that he’d be the air-a-parent. You ask me with all he’s done here that’s the pot calling the kettle black.

It’s kind of telling that Hulman Ctr. Revac will be completed next year the same year his contract is finally up. We move on from there. Funny thing is Adm. wants to resign him for the next 20 years. He’s a Cash Cow for his ex. Clink is smart and will drain the swamp. He wants a winner other than the rest of the hierarchy. They’re satisfied with 2,000 butts in the seats as docile as they are. He wants a winner. We’ll get there, but patience is a virtue.

I Root for the players. Not Greg Lansing. After all, they’re the ones that sacrifice for our entertainment.

Let's see here.....Dayton, Duquesne, Drake, UNI. All close losses. Lansing couldn't win even ONE of these games. This has been the pattern way too long. This is why fans can't get excited about ISU basketball because of the losing mentality. Same old excuses. New year, new players, SAME results. You find the common denominator. Unacceptable.

This doesnt make any sense. You dont look at them after the fact and say he couldnt even win one. You pick out all the close losses and say he couldnt win them. Of course not they are over. He won in overtime vs Wright State and a close one with Tennessee St. Why did you leave those out?

Well sir, Wright State didn't even have their best player. Tennessee State shouldn't have even been close......that's a whole other problem. Lansing's teams always play "down" to the competition. Heck, we didn't even beat Chicago State convincingly in my opinion. I'm not on here to argue just state my opinion which I'm entitled to.

He's just gotta find a way to win close games - simple as that. He's not gotten the job done as a HC in close games this year. In past years - we weren't even in close games a lot of times. These two road games being close hasn't been good enough. Big time players got to make big time plays. Meaning either JB or Key and if neither of them want to do it then Lansing needs to find out if Cooper wants to do it - right now he can't even get in the box score for more than a FG let alone one with the game on the line. If none of those 3 want to do it then he needs to let Tre or Jake figure it out in the post - someone has to find a way to make a pass that leads to a winning play or a basket that leads to a winning play. Because of the plays that I can recall we had our chances in these games...

vs. Drake under 4 mins. ONLY Jake & Key made a pair of free-throws

JB - missed 3 to tie.

JB - missed contested layup to tie or keep it within one pos.

Key - turnover to tie or keep it within one pos.

vs. UNI ONLY Jake and Key made a layup down the stretch

JB - missed wide open mid range jumper to keep it within one pos. (4:49)

JB - awful turnover to tie or keep it within one pos. that leads to layup (4 point swing)

CWilliams - missed wide open 3 pointer to tie or keep within one pos.

Key - missed heavily contested fade away/one handed to tie or keep within one post.

These are just a handful of plays that didn't go our way... 2 games under 4 minutes and we're talking about 2 layups and 4 free-throws combined!!!! Bad bounce? Unlucky? Un-clutch? Bad play design? Wrong player? I'm not sure but at some point these guys are going to have to make winning plays and if they don't then you're going to lose a lot of close games. Because the Wright State game as mentioned above - was a win but it wasn't pretty at all. JB and Key were a non-factor down the stretch in that game as well. Go back and look at the game thread.

...and everyone BITCHED about my assertion that GL blew an opportunity to "be creative" during the Chicago St. game, i.e. fine tuning f/c & half-court defense variations and calling up special plays. Chicago St. lost to Missouri 91-33 a week after we def. them by 21.

For those that have been to practices and what not, can LaRavia shoot outside of 8 feet? Seems like he is leaving a lot of good looks on the table. He just seems like he could have a lot of success as a stretch four.

(By no means am I saying he is a problem. He has already exceeded expectations, just would like him to take a few of those open jumpers.)

I can't answer your question, but i agree with your comment. The defense so far in the MVC is giving him the three if he wants to take it. No defender is stretching out past the 18 feet to guard him. I don't recall seeing him shoot any threes this year, so maybe it's just not his game?

Never once did I "blame" Tre Williams for the loss. I wouldn't do that. You can't blame a loss on one player. You are also being critical of him saying he didn't have a good game, so we are saying the same thing. He played badly last night, especially for what I've now come to expect from him. Whether that's fair of me to be critical or have high expectations of a Freshman, I suppose that can be debated.
