There is no question that Illinois State University has made significant headway in their recruitment of a pair of class of 2010 prospects--6'1 shooting guard Mike McCall from Foreman High School in Chicago and 6'8 forward Phillip Jackson, who recently decided to transfer from Providence-St. Mel High School in Chicago. This is due largely to the efforts of assistant coach Paris Parham, who continues to do an outstanding job of utilizing his strong ties throughout the city of Chicago. It is starting to look very much like McCall could end up at a program in a mid-major conference, where he would be an absolute steal for any school at that level. Jackson's recruitment is a little bit tougher to gage at this point.

C'mon over Mike...Jake Kitchell will be a great guy to feed for 4 years and as a combo guard you'd likely see plenty of PT early on. Things are changing for the better and now is the time to get on board so you can enjoy the ride.

Got no argument here. Hopefully McCall takes a look at Marshall and realizes how he could be featured here in McKenna's up tempo system. He could really make his mark in the Valley

Another school that continues to recruit the state of Illinois extremely hard is Missouri State. In fact, Bears head coach Cuonzo Martin will be in Chicago early next week to scout several players at open gyms. At the present time Missouri State remains in the running for two of the top unsigned prospects in Illinois from the class of 2010--6'8 forward Phillip Jackson and 6'1 shooting guard Mike McCall from Foreman High School in Chicago.

Imagine that. Majerus being crooked. Hmmm, never heard that before...oh yeah, actually I have...:censored:

Willing to share?

some of the innuendo / rumors about Majerus?

I haven't heard any before this string...

I used to know some folks when I lived in South Bend that were Ball State alums involved with the basketball program when he was there. They were always saying that Majerus was, if not breaking the letter of the law, certainly not above ingoring basic ethical practices in running the program. I guess to get where he is, you probably have to do that?

I don't know any specifics, just what they said. All that came flooding back when he came out of nowhere to steal McCall. Not like St. Louis and the A-10 is that much better than our package. They do have a new arena, though...

some coaches operate under the 'beg forgiveness' versus 'ask permission' model; though I'm not defending Majerus.

SLU is (probably) a better school academically but for pure bball reasons... I'd take the MVC over the Atl10. The schools in the Atl10 probably have a higher profile (or at least they seem to) based on their name and 'prestige'

New areanas never hurt and StL is probably a better town for college life than the Haute

True, and funny because many of those A-10 teams play in gyms that wouldn't make the Top 20 biggest HIGH SCHOOL gyms in Indiana...

Too true, too true; too bad Ind. HS ball is a shambles of it's former self
