Graham Rahal got bumped by his teammate Jack Harvey by 0.007 mph.

Now they're on to the top 6 qualifiers. Alex Palou just pulled a lap 1 of 235, and finished with a 4 lap average of over 234 mph. These cars are really fast this year.

So did Sting Ray Robb make the field? How can you not cheer some for a real name like that!

Yes he got 32nd. I was pulling for him too. Graham is the only driver that didn't make it. Harvey was sitting at 34th and tried with like 10 minutes to go and didn't pass Graham's speed up, and then tried again with about a minute before the gun fired and beat him out.

Alex Palou gets pole with a 234.217 mph average. Rinus Veekay finished right behind with a 234.211 mph average. Both drivers were the only two in the fast 6 that topped 235 on lap 1.

I was at the track for a bit yesterday. Golfed at the Brickyard and then came over to a suite for a bit. Just a beautiful day to be at the track.

I think Rinus Veekay could have had it if he didn't go to the inside wall to take the checkered flag. It is farther that way.

Our crew of five had a pre-arranged private meeting with Helio Castroneves at Mondays practice. I presented him with a replica of my Helio themed license plate that he got a kick out of when he saw it while chatting him up at the SRX race in Nashville last year. Third or fourth time we've hung out with him over the years, and he is an incredibly nice and engaging dude. Spent a lot of time both Sunday and again on Monday in the garage and pits so the 9 year old Indy fanatic in our group could meet drivers and get autographs. This will be Indy 5oo #32 for me.

Ran into Penske Team President and Josef Newgarden crew chief Tim Cindric (don't know him personally, btw), and reminded him of the time we joked about meeting at the Bally. He stopped and wistfully commented, "Ah, the Bally....those were simpler times". He's a Rose-Hulman grad.

Any place to watch the 500 in Terre Haute? Thanks

WTWO it’s not blacked out here. So you can watch it at every local bar!

I’d recommend Dawg Leg @ Idle Creek, Charlie’s Pub or Copper Bar. Weather is supposed to be nice Dawg Leg will not let you down.

Might try Idle Creek sounds interesting, I believe that is where they had some away b-ballgames.
Yes “Rick’s Garage” is the new name. They will have the garage doors open - big screen up I’d imagine for sure and it would be a fantastic place to take in the race given the beautiful weather we are going to have!

I'm going to watch it in the usual place. I'll be high up in turn 3. Can't hardly beat it. It's a poor man's turn 1. Not too poor. I haven't checked on the price for next year but I would think $125-$130/ticket.

What a great race! As a long time race fan who’s attended many 500’s but really just as a sports fan I’m so glad they threw that final red flag and they let this thing play out under green - that would have been a really disappointing end if they ended it under yellow.

We went and had a great time. Thankful nobody was hurt with the tire jumping the fence. I think they made the right decision with the red flags. The mayhem was caused in the last few laps from slow restarts, as well as restarts are the only passing with this aero/car kit. So, drivers get crazy and go 4 wide or in Oward's case pushing too soon.

Had no idea about the tire jumping the fence. Very lucky no one was killed. Here's the video. At 3:05 they show it in slow motion.

Yeah that tire came incredibly close to the stands and the suites. I was in that First Financial Suite during practice and it sits right at the exit of 2 and the gap between the suites and the stands is not very big. Real time it looked like it was in the stands!
