but he made it BACK into the race and finished 22nd -- probably a very great day for him, given the cirumstances
Did he finish? 16 drivers did not finish, so, I’m not sure how great of a day it was for him. Dead battery on the grid is a blunder.

We sit in coveted row RR in the SEV (top row with the deck as cover from sun/rain)...had the Rosenqvist/Kirkwood accident happened a second or two sooner, it could've ended up in the SEV stands...a half a second later and it could've hit the suites. We sit high up in E stand for Carb Day every year, and we can see more of the track from SEV...cars entering T1 all the way into apex of T3.

IMS president Doug Boles (GREAT dude) brought the lady whose car was hit down to the Yard of Bricks for a picture shoot and to "kiss the bricks". Her Chevy Cruze suffered significant damage to the driver front fender near the headlight. I have a feeling IMS and Chevrolet will take good care of her.

1987...tire was punted into the North Chute between turns 3-4...guy from Wisconsin named Lyle Kurtenbach was struck and killed when a tire from Tony Bettenhausen's car was struck by Roberto Guerrero.

Right but the safety and technology innovations in cars have advanced so so much. The tether attached to each tire is suppose to prevent that. If you watch his car rolling over you can see another tire detached but held together by the tether. It was just unavoidable the speed and angle at which he hit the tire/car.

Even though it’s not Indy Car I highly doubt that safety would be where it is today in cars and tracks without the death of Dale Sr. That opened a lot of eyes.

I feel like auto racing has always tried to innovate and make it safer. Roof flaps / catch fences are sort of pre Dale Sr.

But post Dale Sr You see HANS device, safer barriers / soft walks / closed faced helmets (amazing Sr and Jr still were racing open faced), Halo in Indy Car. Artificial turf in infield to prevent cars digging in and flipping.

He and Will Power were trailing Newgarden by 5 laps but both were running when the checkered dropped...

As to the dead battery, I'm sure his dad will remind him to NOT leave the radio and lights on when he's parked at the end of Pit Row...

The SAFER barrier, with financing by IMS had been in development for 3 or 4 years prior to the death of Dale Earnhardt SR. It was installed at IMS about 15 months after his death.

What a weird thing to try and split hairs about… Okay! I literally said - post Dale Sr death and then you go on to say 15 months after his death. 😂😂

You sir are the arbiter of truth on all things related to “safer barriers” congratulations!! 🎊🍾
