Bruce Weber and the University Of Illinois coaching staff is continuing to watch 6'2 class of 2012 point guard Michael Orris from Crete-Monee High School in University Park, IL. Meanwhile, Orris has received scholarship offers from four Missouri Valley Conference schools to date and continues to be heavily recruited by those programs as well as several in the Horizon League. Crete-Monee varsity boy's basketball coach Matt Ryndak tells us that Drake University, Indiana State University and the University Of Illinois-Chicago have been the most aggressive in their recruitment of Orris, as they have all been on him from the get-go. In the mean time, thanks to the play of Orris and 6'4 DePaul University recruit and all-state candidate Jamee Crockett, it is certainly looking as though Crete-Monee will be the team to beat from Chicago's south suburbs once the class 4A sectional at Thornwood High School in South Holland, IL gets underway.

In fact, reliable sources have informed us that even if Illinois were to land Bielfeldt there could still be room for at least one scholarship in 2012. That is why Weber and his staff are continuing to look at a number of in-state point guards from the 2012 class, with 6'2 Michael Orris from Crete-Monee High School in University Park, IL being among them.

Speaking of Orris, he holds previous offers from Illinois-Chicago, Drake and Indiana State. He was at UIC last week to take in their game versus Loyola-Chicago and enjoys an outstanding relationship with Flames assistant coach Al Biancalana.

Orris continues to receive increased interest on an almost daily basis. Crete-Monee varsity boy's basketball coach Matt Ryndak tells us that two new schools have gotten heavily involved with Orris. One is the University Of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Ryndak enjoys a strong relationship with Green Bay head coach Brian Wardle and the Phoenix already have one recruit from Crete-Monee in the fold, as 6'8 power forward Greg Mays is a member of their 2010 recruiting class.

Another school that has jumped into the mix for Orris is William And Mary, which has been highly successful recruiting the Chicago area in recent years. According to Ryndak, the Tribe will be in to watch Orris this coming Friday.

Crete-Monee defeated Thornton 66-49 to win the IHSA Class 4A Thornwood Sectional title on Friday night. The is the first-ever Sectional title in the history of the program, and comes under the direction of head coach Matt Ryndak, who is in his first year as head coach of the school.

Class of 2012 star Michael Orris powered the Crete-Monee offense as they built up big first half lead that ultimately bulged to 38-21 before Thornton made a furious 19-5 second half run to close to within 43-40. Senior Jamie Crockett (DePaul) once again came up huge for Crete-Monee as he came alive offensively to stop Thornton's run.

Crockett scored a game-high 19 points with Orris finishing with 15 points, and sophomore Marvie Keith adding 11 points. Senior point guard Jay Parker led Thorton with 16 points.

Crete now advances to the IHSA Class 4A Normal SuperSectional where they will face Anthony Beane, and Normal Community.

Michael Orris update: H.S. coach Matt Ryndak says Creighton will likely get a visit soon & Missouri St, Minnesota & Butler recently called.

Ryndak also said that Orris, w/offers from ILL, UIC, UW-Green Bay, and Drake, will commit to the best fit for him & not the highest offer.

This contradicts what was posted on ilprepbullseye.com, so Orris may or may not have an offer.
