My sources tell me that Purdue was not Etling's first offer.....

Indiana State was the first school to offer Etling. His family was there when the Sycamores made the offer.

Was mentioned on Twitter Tuesday evening....

QB Danny Etling out of Indiana landed offer No. 3 today from #Iowa. Had solid weekend at Dallas #Elite11 and #NFTC

Saw that Purdue just offered another quarterback. Not sure if that will have any effect on Danny, but something to keep any eye on.

I wish the best for the kid, but I don't see him ever coming to Indiana State, not unless it's after his sophomore or junior year and it's similar to a Ronnie Fouch situation. The kid is one of the top QB recruits in the nation. The Elite 11 is a pretty big deal. He could have done a lot better than Purdue, from a football pedigree standpoint, truthfully.

He had FBS offers from west laffy, iowa and colorado... any others?

As a QB, who has iowa or colo produced over west laffy?
len dawson, Bob Griese, drew brees - 3 Super Bowl Champion QBs, 2x Hall of Famers (brees is a highly probable HoF)
add cecil isbell (NFL title) jim everett (NFL TD title), kyle orton, mike phipps, gary danielson, mark herrmann...

Was told (didn;t believe it until I looked it up...profootballreference.com) purdue QBs have thrown more NFL TDs than any other school.
I think they lead (or are close) to having the more NFL wins as a school...

Thinking Etling chose correctly over iowa and colorado IF he wants to be an NFL QB

I think he could have held out a little longer. As for the school, I'm talking more about their skill level now, not so much what they've produced in the past. Purdue is a bottom feeder and has been for a while now.

gloomington is a bottom feeder. illinois routinely does less with more in most sports, minnesota is quite schizo, nothing spectacular at northwestern... I have faith that urban meyer will put osu back on probation before he leaves/resigns/etc... it will be VERY interesting to see how happy 'happy valley' will be with paterno... they could very easily become ucla mbb from 1976-1994...

yeah, he could have waited for another offer; maybe he wants to be an NFL QB and be close to home. Where's his best opportunity? north crook? name the last legit nfl qb from there?
