Ummmm....get this kid. Now. 6'10" and athletic; yes, please. He needs to bulk up but he has very good footwork for his size and can clearly get up and down the floor.

This may be an odd question, but what's wrong with him? 6'10" 200 lb. athletic big men don't grow on trees in Iowa. I'm just curious why his offer list, being a 2014 recruit, is so limited.

Witht the mass exodus of big men we're going to have after next season, we need to start replacing the frontcourt. Gehring would be a fantastic start.

I am sure there is nothing wrong with him, but if you are Iowa or Iowa State, you don't need to do as much homework and get in early, because as long as he hasn't signed a NLI he will still pick up the phone when they come calling. We, on the other hand, have to discover talent much earlier and build a much stronger relationship and work harder to get "in" with a recruit.

Don't worry, the bigger schools will come calling and unfortunately, he will be listening.

Perfect example is Mercer. Narrowed down to Belmont, Boston College and us,...then boom, here comes Michigan sniffing around and they suck up all the oxygen in the room. Think if he was looking Michigan and we entered the picture late we would get much of his attention?

A good point, one learned the hard way recently...
