Does anyone have any clue on the quality of the competition he's faced in his JUCO conference?

From the very little I've seen (streaming a tiny bit of his games), juco basketball....at least in Lamar State's conference....does not look very team oriented, it's like watching NBA DLeague but without the talent. Granted not a fair assessment, but that's what it looked like.

So, for the season that just ended Tre averaged 21 ppg, 5 apg, and 4 rpg. Is it reasonable to just cut those in half for what he'll do for us next year?

Considering he'll probably start at PG. I would hope he lands around 10-15 ppg, 5A and 4 R a game. Shooting doesn't look like it's his issue.

Turnovers and playing within the confines of an offense will be his biggest issues. As Quabachi said, there team was pretty run and gun, so actually having to move the ball, direct people and move without the ball, as well as play defense for more than 15 seconds a possession will be new.

The talent is there, up to GL and staff to reign it in, point it in the right direction.

So, you're hoping he's a combination of Jake Odum and Fred VanVleet? I think those are extremely lofty, and possibly unfair expecations. If that's just what you're hoping for, that' one thing. I would just caution some not to get your hopes up too high for Tre. I think he'll be a good player, but as Bluethunder said there's going to be a definite learning curb.

What can I say? JO has set the bar high. Yeah I HOPE he does this. It will be extremely hard. I hope he adjusts well. I hope with our success that we start recruiting better players. JO is a hell of a player and I'm sad to see him go. At the same time. I'm curious as hell as to how next year goes. Bennett seems like a solid player. Him and smith need to learn to work together real well. I'm already excited for next year.

What is the rule for players practicing together during the offseason? I'm sure that formal practices are prohibited, but if..."oops, we just so happen to show up at the same gym at the same time...in practice gear..." does the NCAA wave its magic wand and say it's not allowed?

If they are allowed to practice together, Ksmith and Bennett should just rent an apartment together.

No rules for kids playing together in the Summer. Only NCAA rules are no coaches involved although I believe they're working on changing this or coaches wanted to change this. Lots of schools have open gyms where former players come in and they play organized pickup.

Does anyone have any clue on the quality of the competition he's faced in his JUCO conference? Obviously he's not going to replicate his numbers in the MVC, but I'm trying to get a sense for what our expectations shoudl be for him next year.

Two things I very much like: 1) He can flat-out shoot the three, and 2) he appears to have the "body" to play in the MVC.

I know this isn't the best way to answer this question, but the four guys on the all conference first team with Tre are going to Arizona State, Ole Miss, Memphis and the fifth has not signed, or I just can't find out where.

Interesting. And whether or not it holds any weight, I like seeing ISU next to those other schools.

For the season, Tre averaged 20.6 points per game, 4.7 assists and 3.6 rebounds.

He shot 42.4% from 3 pt range, 45.4% overall, had a 2.7 assist/TO ratio (had 55 TOs in 31 games, so he averaged fewer that 2 turnovers per game which is pretty good based on how fast his team played on offense), and 50 steals.

Also shot 79.8% from the line.
