WANTED: Passionate Sycamore Fanatics. That You?

Register NOW to join our community of die-hard Sycamore fans.

Larry get's PAID, gets to hang out on 6th Street in Austin, grab lunch at Franklin BBQ or Salt Lick...spent his Saturdays with 100,000 friends at DKR Stadium watching SEC football, has his childhood friends and family more likely to get to attend in person to see him play and can enjoy the networking of the UT academic and athletic departments...he's doing OK for himself. He's the one I most "get" making the move he did.
100%. Spent 4 years in the program. Developed, became a fan favorite, I know it was a difficult decision for him to leave and I'm sure he wouldn't do a single thing different out of high school. He was essentially given a gift of another year of eligibility from covid and he went back to his home state (can't blame him for that), closer to family & friends, essentially is guaranteed an NCAA tourney appearance, the college experience at Texas (football, bars, etc.), is getting $xxx, xxx and as @CoachShipp said who knows all of the other networking advantages it opens up. If there is ever a transfer you can understand, it's one like this. In fact pre NIL shenanigans he would have been able to freely transfer because he has a degree. I just really wish he would have gotten to 1000 points so he could have been apart of that club for us.

The same can be said for Tyreke Key. He scored 1600 for us, spent 5 years in the program (many forget he stayed for Schertz first year). Ended up going back to his home state, got paid, NCAA tourney, and all the other things experiences that go with it.

Any player that takes the path of Key or Larry will not have a single gripe from me. Come here, develop, produce, earn your damn degree, take what life gives you. That's how you do it

Same thing with Kent as well. Graduated with ISU degree. Family is actually from Texas which I’m pretty sure I heard him say he was born in Texas. Him and his sister recruited to Texas schools which allows the family to go back home and parents get to see both kids a lot easier between Texas and Texas A&M. Then of course he is real close with his sister so he gets to see her a lot more.

Sort of an aside to my previous post. But those of us who played a team sport - remember how freaking happy you were to simply be playing?
I remember in an interview he had that he would rather play than sit and make money. But this move is very understandable.

the games I watched Larry was playing well - the Texas offensive strategy sucks. Dribble-dribble-dribble-no body open - heave up a prayer. Larry drives to the hoop and no one cuts to get open.
I AGREE. I think Ju has looked good in the 4 or 5 games I have watched. Still haven't seen Kent play this year/

I do miss watching Larry play, not only for his talent and abilities, but for the joy he seemed to have for the game.
always had that smile on his face. His mother reminded me that he got his diploma from Indiana State and he is an alum and will always be a Sycamore.
