Wasn't there some talk awhile back about playing a football game at the Victory Field in Indy? A couple of people who seemed to be in the know were kind of cagey about when it would happen and who we would play, is it still happening? 2014? 2015? Never?

I noticed that GoSycamores.com no longer has "future" schedules posted (beyond 13-14) on the website. I suppose it is because of the unknown status of many of the future FBS games, i.e. Minnesota, IU, Tennessee etc. already scheduled but not a sure thing anymore.

no chance there will be any football games at Victory Field.

Will there still be scholarship football in 2014 ? The program took a huge step backwards this past season.

I guess the planning on that fell through.
No ISU inside info here but I still think our last game in the series with IU might be played in Lucas Oil next fall. I had heard that originally from someone that works for the city, not the athletic department but it totally makes sense for a game to be played there. If I am wrong, nothing lost, but it sure makes sense to me and damn, it would be fun to play in that facility.

This idea would be great, but I hope it's on the weekend.

Might make sense in terms of location but I'm not sure between the two teams they can even fill one-third of the stadium.

This is a huge leap. Haven't even heard anyone mention this. Where is this coming from?

Wasn't that long ago that it was an issue. Just before Coach Miles and would expect it to return to the drawing board now after Coach Miles. This next season could be a "deal breaker" as far as new on campus stadium, etc. Not many attend football games even if they won consistently which they sure don't.

How can we know how many would attend games if we won consistently? We never have. Even under Miles we struggled to get over .500. The coach couldn't finish the job he came here to do and bailed for bigger money. It all comes down to whether or not the school is willing to fund the program, not just a new stadium, but paying the staff. They took steps under Miles, but baby steps.

2 years in a row they are ONE game away from making the playoffs, then get hit by a unique number of injuries, and now the program needs to be trashed?? WOW. I'm just curious how many games the pople with this line of thought have been to in the past several years. As far as playing in Lucas, yes the crowd would likely be sparse, with probably a couple of thousand ISU fans at the most--but if you've watched college football other than the SEC and the top half of the other BCS power conferences, is that any different than ANY other college program in the country?? I think it would be good for the team, good for recruiting, good for exposure in the Indianapolis area...

Yeah, it would be sparse but so are the Indiana HS state title games held there.

I don't think it would be as sparse as everyone thinks. There are a ton of ISU alum around the Indianapolis area and going to see the Sycamores at Lucas Oil is probably much more appealing than traveling to Terre Haute. The number of ISU fans who attended the last two games at IU was pretty impressive.
