It's baaaaaaack. Just threw the team's stats into my spreadsheet to get the first set of PER ratings for the year. Here is the first edition of the Sycamore's pace-adjusted player efficiency rating.
31.08 - Brenton Scott
23.19 - Emondre Rickman
21.53 - Jordan Barnes
16.84 - Matt Van Scyoc
14.84 - Brandon Murphy
13.84 - Everett Clemons
12.37 - TJ Bell
01.84 - Niels Bunschoten
-02.02 - Laquarious Paige
-25.32 - Donovan Franklin
-34.53 - Bronson Kessinger
I will say it's probably best to ignore Franklin and Kessinger after one game since neither logged 10 minutes and had a high usage rating for the short times they were on the floor. That will really throw the math off. This is why I've not done inital ratings until 5 games in previous years but I was bored so figured why the hell not.
Here were the year end PERs for those that were on the team last year:
19.58 - Brenton Scott
16.10 - Everett Clemons
13.10 - Emondre Rickman
11.84 - Brandon Murphy
10.27 - Niels Bunschoten
10.05 - Matt Van Scyoc
-01.06 - Laquarious Paige
According to John Hollinger, here is his PER Reference Guide. Keep in mind it is geared towards NBA players, but you can get a general idea of what the number above is considered:
A Year For the Ages: 35.0
Runaway MVP Candidate: 30.0
Strong MVP Candidate: 27.5
Weak MVP Candidate: 25.0
Bona fide All-Star: 22.5
Borderline All-Star: 20.0
Solid 2nd option: 18.0
3rd Banana: 16.5
Pretty good player: 15.0
In the rotation: 13.0
Scrounging for minutes: 11.0
Definitely renting: 9.0
The Next Stop: DLeague 5.0
