Now see why Clink pulled his ripcord @ NC St...

NC State: The quality of this job is an existential question among the Wolfpack fan base. The Wolfpack fan base insists it is a great gig. The expected lack of interest in the job from high-end candidates like Xavier’s Chris Mack and Dayton’s Archie Miller hints otherwise. What are the positives? There’s a big fan base, great league and rich history. The list of negatives begins with divisive athletic director Debbie Yow, who is viewed in the industry as being a huge impediment to landing a top-flight coach. Like it often does in college athletics, this search will come down to money and commitment. The savvy play would be throwing the bank at Gregg Marshall, Tom Crean or Ben Howland. But can State afford paying in mid $3-million range? If not, it’s easy to see this search become unwieldy. The two most realistic names may be UNC-Wilmington’s Kevin Keatts and Butler’s Chris Holtmann.

Would be interesting if true. I mentioned him last year when the Lansing leaving rumors were going around.

Illinois job is now open.
Just goes to show you no matter how good of a coach you are, if you're not an equal recruiter, you're not going to win at the higher levels. Nothing but praise flowing out for Groce right now both internal and externally and everyone has pointed to the fact they couldn't get enough players. In his case, he got a couple Top 100 kids but only a handful panned out and never had that bit time difference maker. He still managed to keep the Illini in the middle of the Big 10 pack.

Some LM/MM is going to get a helluva coach.

I have heard that the search to replace Sean Woods at Morehead State is in the final stages, and could be down to the final two. Witt/Kieffer is running the search which drew 115 applicants. I have heard that the final group that likely included:

Jeremy Ballard – Assistant Coach Pittsburgh

Josh Schertz – Head Coach Lincoln Memorial University (TN)

Preston Spradlin – Interin Head Coach Morehead State

Kelly Wells – Head Coach UPIKE (KY).

I have also heard that South Carolina associate head coach Matt Figger is/was in the mix. It sounds like the final two may only include the DI guys and that this could be wrapped up in the next day or two. More on this one as I hear it.

Multiple outlets are now reporting that South Florida will hire Brian Gregory. The former Dayton and Georgia Tech head coach spent this past season as a consultant to Tom Izzo at Michigan State. In his 13 seasons as a head coach, he compiled a 248-180 career record. An official announcement is expected shortly.

According to a tweet by CBSsports.com’s Jon Rothstein, North Texas will hire Arkansas State’s Grant McCasland as their next basketball coach. Last season was McCasland’s first at Arkansas State where he led the Red Wolves to a 20-12 record. Before coming to ASU last spring, he had spent five seasons as an assistant at Baylor. He has also been the head coach at DII Midwestern State and NJCAA Midland College where he won a National Championship in 2007. He would replace Tony Benford who was dismissed earlier this month.

some media outlets are reporting Geo Washington has offered to remove the 'interim' tag from Maurice Joseph, following the colonials 19-14 / 6th pl in Atl-10 season...

No Crean or Lansing news yet? Must be a new thing with AD's to have the new guy's name signed on the dotted line BEFORE you give the boot. Might be a wait until July 1 down in Bloomington so they can get a million dollar dismissal instead of considerably more than that right now? If the right ($$$$) alumni decide he's history down there a million ain't nothing.
