I know people are starting to talk about it but can we just look at C-USA and their post season success this year.

FAU = 4-0 and currently in Final Four
UAB = 4-0 and currently in NIT Championship
North Texas = 4-0 and currently in NIT Championship
Charlotte = 4-0 Won CBI championship
Rice = 1-1 Lost in second round of CBI

Currently 17-1 with a worse case scenario of 18-3 (17-2 against non C-USA teams). Would be unbelievable if they do a clean sweep of championships. Exciting times for them as I know MVC would be going nuts if this happened for us.

Unbelievable b/c it's two C-USA teams?

$EC swept NIT and NCAA in 2006 (South Carolina, Florida)
Big East swept NIT and NCAA in 2003 (St John's, Syracuse) **NOTE** St John's later forfeited the title
ACC swept NIT and NCAA in 1992 (Virginia, Duke)
Big Ten swept NIT and NCAA in 1979 (indiana, michigan St)
Big Ten took 2 of 3 in 1974 (Purdue took NIT, indiana took NCIT), 1974 NCAA title to No. Carolina St, which had 4 Indiana natives on the roster, 2 starters (Tim Stoddard and Monte Towe), plus Head Coach Norm Sloan,

The MOST Historic? 1951 - CCNY swept the NIT AND the NCAA, beating Bradley for both titles

Ah yes, the 1951 when CCNY took it too the Braves for the Championships. My family still sits around the dinner table and talks about those fondly.

It's not so much as a conference sweeping the championships . But just look at how they are doing it? They didn't have 8 teams in the tournament that were all 1-5 seeds. They had 1 team in the NCAA tournament - who is undefeated. They have 2 teams in the NIT that are undefeated. They had 2 teams in the CBI, 1 team won the championship and the other won a game. From a conference perspective that is the best post season showing by win percentage ever, and I don't have to look back to 1951 to tell me that.

All five of those schools are moving to the American Athletic (Wichita's league) next season. UTSA is the other school moving to the AAC from CUSA and the Roadrunners won the conference championship in football, defeating North TX. Looks like the AAC definitely did their homework.

Sadly CUSA may never be relevant in basketball again after this season. They're really taking a hard hit.

So, it's impressive because it's a non-P5 conference - gotcha.

Would you same the same thing if this as occurring in 2024 when all of those schools (FAU, UNC-Charlotte, UNT, UAB and Rice) are in the AAC and not C-USA?

Not sure if 2023 is the "new norm" OR one-off; with the LARGE amount of experienced players (Jr, Sr, Grad, PhD, etc) using their COVID year, using the portal and teams like those 5 are benefitting

MBB is the new Wild West, Wyoming or not

- Yes I would be saying the same thing if ANY conference got 5 post season bids with 4 undefeated teams 2 weeks into the post season.

- Really curious on what you stance is other just arguing with me? Are you not impressed by C-USAs performance? You seem more enamored by P5 conferences sweeping NCAAs/NIT even though they have 10 teams in said tournaments and consistently get the benefit of good draws year in and year out. If you can't see the difference between what C-USA is doing this year and what P5s have done in the past I can't help you.

Thanks for clarifying.

What argument? Because I'm not convinced the 2023 NCAA tourney is the new normal?

I typically always remember that "Past performance is no guarantee of future results."
But let's look at the track record of this year's final four coaches - 3 newbies to this round
* Danny Hurley, in his 13-yr of Div I coaching, he's a 'career' .613 W/L % coach, this is his 5th NCAA dance, the first time he's made it past the 2d round. His Huskies this season have 8 kids who are Jr or have more experience (Sr, Gr) and he has 4 transfers
* Brian Dutcher, in his 6th yr of Div I coaching, a 'career' .765 W/L%; this is his 5 NCAA tourney but the 1st time he's won a game; his Aztecs feature 13 kids in the Jr, Sr or Gr classes and 5 transfers.
* Dusty May, in his 5th yr as a Div I coach, a 'career' .631 W/L%, his first NCAA, so first NCAA-T wins; he did lead his Owls to 2 CBI berths, ousted in the 1st round... his Owls have 4 kids that are Jr, Sr or Gr and has 3 transfers
* Jim Larranaga, in his 30-yr of coaching, 28 in Div I; has a .601 career W/L%; this is his 11th NCAA, has advanced in 6 of them; this is his 2nd Final Four. His 'Canes have 4 Jrs, Sr or Gr and 2 transfers this year (plus one from last...

In some ways, all four have caught Lightning in a Bottle in the '23 Tourney - WILL they again? IS the 2023 Tourney a glimpse of the new normal??

remember that "Past performance is no guarantee of future results."

As of next season 12 out of 14 AAC members will have directly moved to the AAC (or the Old Big East) from CUSA. The AAC is / will be essentially the "New CUSA". Wichita State (MVC) and Temple (A10) will be the only two to have come from elsewhere. Then there's Navy Football which was independent.

They are. They are taking care of the ball, and getting shots off the dribble. Post up play is very effective,

Oh wow. I forgot all about the Final 4 tonight. Hopefully FAU holds on (up 14 right now). I think they have a better shot at beating Miami or Connecticut.
