Had hoped he'd portal & consider the Sycamores'. Would be fine if he was penciled in as a starter.
He could earn more as a Sycamore than an Ace. Have a good season, help win a lot of games, and he'd be set up well for his junior/senior year from a HM.

1) Gonna fill all 15 schollies.
2) teased an unannounced verbal commitment
3) Will have 14 new players, Martin returning.
4) counting the verbal commitment, 8 roster spots available
5) wants roster complete by June 1st, ready for summer class on June 8th
6) discussed the portal frenzy: today, over 50% of players who had a D1 scholarship are in the portal, might end around 65%.
7) coaching staff turning over a lot of rocks, casting a wide net, to put together the best roster possible.
8) talked favorably of Goddards and NC leadership.
9) discussed how 1M+ is currently the top valley team's NIL budget, and while ISU is not quite there, huge improvement has been made. Money is not the impediment it had been. Not gonna pay 300K or 400K for a student athlete, but much improvement. (He sounded grateful, imo).
10) HCMG plugged the bourbon & cigar NIL event in late April.
11) discussed how every team's focus on the transfer portal will sometimes allow ISU to gain high school recruits that otherwise would have been High Major. He talked up the 4 incoming freshmen, Martin, & ISU's recent signed recruit.
12) might be open to add 1 more freshman, but sounded like transfer portal is now the priority. Did state that continuity is important, & would like to continue to recruit quality freshman & retain.
13) also, ISU's recruit that had a prep year grew an inch and added 20 'good' pounds. Still skinny, but much stronger.

Graves said yesterday that Drew Scharnowski’s agent is asking for 2 million. Btw he shot under 50% from the FT line this year.
I was shocked when he said that. Couldn't even have a conversation without having 2 million available for 1 player. Sheesh.

I was guessing they'd both hit the portal.
They have had a couple good years, cbi champions & NIT final four.
I usually don't care to learn, but interested to know what they both are paid.
Kind of refreshing to see them stick around and finish out there careers at one school and leave a good legacy, especially as a duo. But they both underachieved this past season. JK probably isn’t as good as people think he is. Walker is a real nice piece, seems like a kid you want to build youur program around
