Openly admitting it out in the open is certainly a choice.

Pretty interesting.

Both teams were in the Bahamas so I'm sure that's where talks begun.

No doubt Tucker was part of the package and was advised to at the very least "milk" the shoulder and get a medical redshirt.

DeVries had to be shitting his pants when McCollum kept winning and winning and winning.

If I'm a NIL booster for WV I am absolutely furious that Tucker got a dime. Let alone the $600,000+ NIL deal he probably got. It could be legitimate fraud and if I'm the WV collective it's at least worth a lawsuit to try and get the medical reports and what not.

Not sure how WV not making the tournament fits into all of this but it is damn suspicious that they were 111 of 111 bracketologist and didn't make the tournament. Does IU have a rep on the committee and wanted to get a head start on the portal?

tampering of this level in the major pro leagues would be a hefty fine, not too mention, how many "big losers" in Vegas' line on the 'Neers game will come "looking" for DeVries...

A lot of twatter chatter on McCollum going to Iowa.

Personally, I think West Virginia would be a better fit with how they revered Huggins and his defensive first philosophy but whatever.

Obviously Iowa talks are happening, but apparently some pretty credible rumors have started that he has an offer on the table for Villanova.

With the Iowa/Devries rumors petering out when it was reported he was unhappy with the potential NIL budget Iowa had to offer, I think a non-FBS football school like Villanova might be a more enticing offer.

I laughed every time when I saw someone say "well he was NWMS for 15 years he isn't going to leave Drake after 1".

It was a different world for 95% of his time at NWMS and he was protected by being the top D2 program in the land. D1s weren't poaching his players and he could get the diamond in the rough, develop and keep them. Now the cats out of the bag that D2 can work in D1 and he doesn't have the luxury of having D2 players no D1 will want. He is D1 in a top 10 conference, if his players perform they are going to get every P4 throwing money at them, and they are. He couldn't do what he did at NWMS at Drake in this climate and he knows that. I'm sure Stirtz will follow him to Iowa and get a bag but damn does Stirtz have UCONN written all over him

Yep, this is something people aren't quite registering.

Old college hoops died about 2-3 years ago. Anything that happened in that era no longer applies.

I kind of feel for the Drake fans. A little. I spoke to several in St. Louis, and they were mostly convinced that McCollum knew he needed to stay at Drake a couple years to “season” himself. They really believed that. And they were all really nice people.

I feel for them because I’ve been in their shoes.
Yep. Unfortunately, it just shows we’ll always be a stepping stone. No matter how “loyal” they are, as soon as a bigger fish comes they’re gone. It’s hard to blame them though with life changing money for coaches or players.
