Aaron Bailey - Illinois Transfer

Any chance, any reason we'd go after this guy? Looked like the most athletic of the three quarterback for Illinois, and seemed more talented than O'Toole who started over him down the stretch. Illini offense looked much more productive under Bailey's control and he would have two years of eligibility remaining I believe. Assuming Kline gets the start right away, Bailey would be a senior after Kline graduates which would set up competition between him and Matt Adam, who I hope is improving enough to be in the conversation. I'm not sure the transfer decision is finalized, but I would love to see the Sycamores go after this guy if he does get out of Champaign. The more SOLID quarterbacks on the roster, the better.

If he's transferring because he wants playing time, I doubt he comes to Indiana State. We've had too many transfer QBs of late who've bailed as soon as they couldn't win the starting job.

It would be interesting. Bigger, better athlete than Tre Roberson, but maybe not quite as good reading defenses and passing. He doesn't fit the mold of the QBs that this staff has been recruiting and the offensive scheme doesn't fit his strengths, but...

I know several of his original offers wanted him as a "big skill" guy instead of QB -- whether that mean TE, LB or whatever.

I think I saw somewhere today where he can easily transition to the two positions listed, tight end or line backer. With the transfer year he'd take, great chance for him to explore his options on whatever team he goes to. List him as "athlete" on the roster and turn him loose.

Get Bailey!!! His game is exactly like what the Utah State QB's game was when Sanford was at Utah State. This is Sanford's wheelhouse. This is what made him a guru of the run and shoot. This kid can do the same thing that Roberson did for the red birds offense. Mike and the team took a quantum leap from where we were to where we are. Bailey gives us a chance to make another quantum leap from getting into the playoffs to having a realistic chance to going deep or winning the playoffs.

Chicago Tribune reporting today that Bailey is headed to UNI--good get for them, and he has 2 years left.
