I'm confused, but is there a reason ISU should have an inside track to kids at this jump other than proximity.

I posted on here about a year ago about this kid. He was VU's best player the last 2 years. He's very athletic, reminds me a lot like Lathan with his dunks. He is a great shooter. I don't know why we pass up on VU kids, they always have a fantastic team down there.

Ragland is a CURRENT ISU asst, picked up from the SIU/Lowery "fire" sale...if there's any truth to this wedge between ISU/VU recruiting tied to Ragland, he should've never been hired by Lansing. VU has too many Div I quality players to let "personal relationships" form a wall prohibiting ISU from solicitation w/ traditionally the #1 JC in America.

I don't have any personal knowledge so I'm just spitballing here but could it be that these players wanna get out of Indiana? I think most Juco players see their time at Juco as a stepping stone. It could be something as simple as this.

Coach rags never was at SIU. Thats belcher your thinking of I believe? If we arent recruiting VU because he coached there then that is pretty dumb. I do think a lot of the kids who go to VU are not from Indiana. So maybe they want to transfer closer to home? Would be nice to get a player from there from time to time.

It's not like this is new. ISU has rarely gotten any sort of impact players from VU. ISU has rarely gotten any players from VU. To blame the current coaching staff for a decades old problem is disingenuous at best...:coffee:

They can't get everyone from everywhere. On this board, it seems like we are supposed get all of the good ones where ever they are and if one leaves what did we do to cause that? If we have never heard of them, why did they, the coaches take him? Give the coaches a break. We only. Have 13 openings.
As they say in In. Everybody is a coach.

Strange that ISU had a "decades old problem" of losing basketball that paralleled this point...Bob King didn't hesitate to step in their direction to get Anderson native 6'7" HARRY MORGAN when he set foot in town to assemble his flying machine, did he?:takeoff:

BTW, where you been hiding, Rap Cat?

Thanks for the correction...Ragland went to E-ville Harrison HS, the same as Lowery. ISU Asst BELCHER was @ SIU under Lowery. Small family...

I won't disagree with you on that point. It's stupid that we don't make VU a pipeline to ISU. I don't know how that all works, but it would seem to be a no-brainer. You just seem to blame Lansing and Co., when I'm pretty sure they'd take the best basketball players on the planet if they could get them. Perhaps it has more to do with upper management at ISU? There's plenty of targets there. Someone at VU probably pissed off a member of ISU's "Old Guard" 30 years ago, and that person is still employed at ISU and blocking these transfers. Heck, it's as plausable as anything else. Maybe even moreso...:sos:

Agree, but it's THIS type of "riff raff" that piles up and suffocates a program. I agree about the "old guard"...Pres. Bradley & RP are doing a good job of reforming DECADES of in-house dead weight. Unfortunate that you just can't light a match, burn to the ground and rebuild, given the pre-existing rot and infestation. Of course, the problem isn't just w/ ISU, but also the various private & public entities that leech off of the University via contracts & employment. For instance, the former Director of Hulman Center (Cliff Lambert) matriculated directly to Terre Haute government after 30 yrs. of stunting ISU's use of HC. In essence, he moved from one side of the table to the other.
