Sad news for a local place that covered/supported Indiana State athletics so well since they opened. Beef O'Bradys in Terre Haute is now closed for business.

They always showed away football and basketball games and I cam recall watching several away games over the last couple of years with a few of you at Beefs.

Hopefully Charlies and Bally show some away games this year!

Lonestar closed and a rumor Tumbleweed is going to also

Given that I live four hours from Terre Haute, I only made it to Beef O' Brady's a couple of times, but each time it was busy. I never understand it when seemingly successful businesses close.

Well Bent I had a picture or two in the place so I find it hard to explain also. Lol

But on a serious note, I think that business was rough the last year or so.

Show-Mes opening across the street certainly didn't help. I mean, it's a similar menue at a cheaper price, bigger TV's and naked high school girls - what else could you want?? ShowMe does awsome business and I have to think that hurt them a little bit.

Fact - already open. Hear it's pretty good, but totally different - I want to try it been going to Carosis since I was a little kid.

It is now called Peloni's and honestly I think it is better than Carosi's. Their pasta is homemade. Not saying Carosi's was bad, I just think the food at Peloni's is better.

Heard Giovanni's Pizza on Wabash closed today too.

It's not surprising. There are WAAAAAAY too many restaurants in the Terre Haute area per capita and for the median family income there. Further, the Obamacare mandate is going to cost a lot of service industry jobs. My uncle is a GM at a restaurant in Terre Haute and he mentioned probably 8-10 places that are going to slash employees drastically when it goes into effect.

I was saddened to hear about Beef's closing. The Talpas and Lafata families supported local athletics from elementary school through college better than any other local business that I know. I always loved going there, getting good food, and catching a few games. Place will definitely be missed.

Agree! Known them my entire life - played ball with both Chad and Brian, hate to see it come to an end.

So Giovanis Pizza - never went.
Beefs - went probably once a month
Lone Star - never went.
J. Gumbos - On 3rd St. closed a while ago, mark that up as a bad business decision.

Possibly,
Tumbleweed

WOW!

WOW!

I went to Giovanis a couple of times. It was ok. J. Gumbos is still open on Wabash, they just closed the one on 3rd street. I love J. Gumbos.

I'm surprised Tumbleweed lasted as long as it did. Never heard good things about it.

Used to go there with the family a couple times a month the first few years it was open, but haven't been back in probably 10 years. No idea how it has been open for so long - there is never anyone there when I drive by.
