Ball State welcomes instate rival Butler Dec. 2 for the 101st meeting between the two teams. The Cardinals begin their longest road trip of the season Dec. 5 as they return to West Lafayette for a meeting with Purdue. Ball State resumes its series with Indiana State Dec. 9 in Terre Haute, marking a program-record 124th meeting between the Cardinals and Sycamores. BSU will also return to Tennessee Tech Dec. 12 as part of the ESPNU BracketBusters event from last season.

"The continuation of the Butler series is great for both programs with the tradition behind the series and this year being our 101st meeting," Taylor said. "Also, resuming the Indiana State series is good for college basketball in the state and beneficial for both programs."

That's a "W" for us go ahead and mark that one down! Eddie maybe you can go bet the folks up in Muncie on this one. Doubt we need any news on Jake Kelly to make this bet. lol But seriously, we ought to win this game!

beating Ball State would put things into the correct perspective...I don't care how many jars Mr Ball sold and then donated to ISU Northeast.

When one of my student's tells me the are going to BSU I always correct them with ISUM and they do not have a clue what I am talking about. I tell me to go google the history of BSU or look at wikipedia. They will argue with me all day long that BSU has no connection with ISU, I love it.

Any BSU alumnus...

that doesn't acknowledge their State lineage is either:

a. an idiot
b. a fool
c. delusional
d. mis-informed

Sure the ball bros. bought some abandoned buildings and gave them to the State of Indiana w/ the provision that a Normal School be chartered but it was part of State until 1961! That's when the Indiana Higher Ed Commission / Governor created a seperate Board of Trustees for Testicle Tech.

I am just going to say it...I don't like Ball State. Don't like it at all. And this is a good segway to this question. Why doesn't ISU have a state rival in sports. Sure we have played Ball State several times, but we don't have an "old oaken bucket" type of thing....why not?

Good question! For some reason I am thinking that we used to have something that we exchanged with Ball State in football, maybe not.

BSU is a very young university, but that is part of the attraction, everything looks so modern in comparison to ISU. Same thing can be said for SIU. ISU really has to find a way to get rid of the railroad tracks so it can expand we are stuck in re-cycling our old buildings which is both bad and good.

Check that name...

I recall the annual State - ISUM FBall game being the 'Victory Bell' game -- and to think it was (at least once) staged at the Hoosier Dome (sorry rca victor)

I also don't,,,

remember State dropping ISUM; I remember ISUM dropping State...

But the true particulars of the 'why' are rarely revealed.

We should play ISUM and Butler EVERY YEAR.
