Well, he lasted less than 3 IP w/ 6 walks...they then bring in a 6'8" "runt" who was being pounded....1/3 IP, 18 pitches, 4 hits & 3 runs. 6-1 4th.

Coaches have the option...but BOTH must agree. Given that Ball State lost their F/T Pitching Coach 1 1/2 weeks ago, they're probably trying to figure out how to salvage the season by looking at the surplus of arms. Not too impressive...and they're tied for 2nd in he MAC!

Both Cutts & Davidson performed well...good to see Sears & Urdaneta break out of their slumps.
 
That play involving Watson early in the game, which ultimately allowed BSU's only run, resurrected memories of an incident in 1967 (1st yr. of IHSAA Baseball Tournament). I'm bringing this up because it deals w/ OUTFIELDER mental game prep, which is constantly changing.

In my incident, I was playing CF for Castle HS as we paired off against the #1 team in Indiana, Jasper. Early in the game w/ no runners, Jasper's ALAN DICK came to the plate. I'd read in the newspaper of his all-around athleticism (4-sport star), which included IHSAA 100/220 Sprint Finals. Anyway, Dick singled through the box. Because Castle had a cinder track which DICED CF, I had a habit of putting a knee to the ground as I fielded grounders in case the ball took a bad hop. Well, the Jasper coaches SAW THIS pre-game and needless to say, gave Dick the green light as he rounded 1B. After gloving the single and looking up @ 2B, I about shit when I saw Dick 20' from the bag.

Keegan Moral of the Story: Don't take anything for granted and CONSTANTLY be analyzing each play's potential given the skill packages involved. Be mentally a step ahead of the opposition.
