So we are trying to coin the ISU/U of E rivalry into the "Battle of 41". Our graphics just came out today and we meant to get them out last weekend but we would love to see this match up become a rivalry again. The title was Jeremy's idea. What do you guys think?

Love it. With both teams being really physical, it fits. Also saw you have Ford sponsoring a t-shirt giveaway.

Have you had more people join the Forest? I keep posting on FB/Twitter for students to get out there.
 
excellent idea! Heck, this battle of 41 should have been created eons ago when the Sycamores and Aces began playing one another, no time like the present to do this though! good work!

I have been seeing your tweets and appreciate them. We are still getting little activity with signing up for the Forest. I'm hoping we aren't disappointed in the turnout tomorrow. 3 day weekend many students went home and we dropped the ball with promoting it this week.

Great idea! Illinois State and Bradley have the "War on 74," so I love that we have the "Battle of 41!" More outstanding work, Lynch!!!
 
I like the Idea. It sounds very similar to what I called it in the "Guess the attendance" discussion. I think your version is better. Now lets get as many people in Hulman Center tonight as we can. Maybe we could get everyone to stand and make a lot of noise for the whole game. That would be different and I wouldn't stand out so much.

The reason they may have not ever used that as a Branding Slogan back then was, U.S. Highway 41 was forever known as Killer Highway 41.....

I even remember a billboard they had 40+ years ago right around the Sullivan Vigo County line heading South that said, "YOU ARE NOW ENTERING KILLER HIGHWAY 41".

Why was it know as Killer Highway 41? Related to number of automobile accidents or something else?
 
Ya, I recall in '70 when INDOT completed the Vincennes & Sullivan by-passes and the Evansville "stoplight city" joke...guess they wouldn't budget the $$$ for E/W 41 over/underpasses and simply 4-laned the stoplight-infested route. My buddy worked for Deig Construction, a major contractor...we used to see how fast our cars would go @ night after the paving was done, but still roadblocked & closed to the public! :lol:

People need to keep in mind the population of E-ville - Vincennes & TH back then...twice what it is now, and 41 was the ONLY reasonable route to/from Indpls, unless you wanted to take the "scenic" Hwy 57 - 50 - 37 route.:idea:
