I have to agree that companies that get the abatements need to emphasize hiring Vigo county residents. That’s how they get money to pay for improvements to the infrastructure.

I don't necessarily want to go down this rabbit hole and restart WW3, but my complaint was that VC / TH doesn't seem to do much of anything to entice good paying businesses to come here unless a certain person is somehow involved. When I mentioned tax breaks (abatements) and how other communities were doing way better than ours in attracting businesses to come to their town, some posters on here basically acted like I was making stuff up.

Then you get some people that somehow think the school system is going to fail or that we're going to have to raise everyone's taxes because we didn't tell a corporation to go take a hike so that we could keep collecting property taxes on an undeveloped field. Nevermind all the created jobs where the newly hired people are going to be paying taxes. Of course I've been told that living on the dole is / is going to be the new American Dream.

all those taxes the newly hired people will pay will only be collected by Vigo County if they live there and/or spend a fair amount of their money in Vigo

Does Vigo have a "wheel tax"?
