OK -- first off we're off to a very good start in the MVC -- nice win today after we got going. But I've commented on this topic many times before and maybe I'm kicking a dead horse .........and truthfully I'm not trying offend anyone here on this site, but .....
I kept reading on this site during the fall about the intense interest growing around Terre Haute and ISU about the BB season and this team. Were you guys just talking among yourselves ? ? ? Because I'm not seeing it in the crowds at HC.
They can announce over 4000 for today's game on TV, but my gosh there could not have been more than about 1200 - 1500 actually in the stands ! And even had there been 4000 that would have been pitiful given our record.
Still hoping someone, some group, some organization, some business, some students, some "Greeks", some alumni, some citizens figure it out.
We need 7000 -- 8000 for Wednesday's game -- I'll be driving a couple of hours to be there. Get your friends and buddies, call some people, students fill the student section and make some major noise -- lets rock those Shockers !

Great post man! Thanks for driving down or up (which ever you may be doing) to catch the game, I think that's great - your support is appreciated!

Let me also say I think this issue has been kicked around enough on this forum, the people that visit this forum are the people that are going to games and supporting the program. It does is NO good to talk about it on here, it's really pointless. I have really heard about this topic to much on here and it's starting to get on my nerves... lol sorry but it is!

However if you really want to make a difference here is an example of how I am going to get 2 more people to the game. I got 4 extra tickets from work (I am willing to give 2 of them to anyone on this board that wants them) the other 2 will go to a couple friends of mine who I a going to take to dinner before the game. My angle was this, the game might not be enough to get them out of the house so I will add a pre game meal to the game plan and I will have done my part!

I'm bringing 4 friends with me to the WSU game. We will also have a 2 hour drive. One is an ISUM grad and the rest of us are true Sycamores. If my calendar allows, I'll be back for at least one more game.

Losing in front of 7,000 (embarrassingly) to Ball State didn't help. ISU has cried wolf way too many times in recent years. Can't blame people for being gun shy.

Students back for Wednesday's WSU game will help. I'm driving over from Indy with 4 in tow. Looking foward to a huge W.

The students were back today, and as usual, showed no school spirit at all. The ones who were there were great, but I hope that the rest of 'em get off their lazy arses and show up!!! A big, rowdy student section could sure help against the shuckers. I just don't get the lack of school spirit by the students.

I know it's beating a dead horse, but our students are lousy fans...

There were not 7,000 people at the Ball State game..that was the total attendence for the doubleheader. The attendence is weak. I hear about how many people love basketball in Indiana, I guess Terre Haute didn't get the memo.

As one of the students in the front row at every game, and one that makes a trip to St Louis instead of panama city beach for spring break I whole heartily agree we need a full student section for wed. but you have to think the only ones who read this forum are the ones who go to the games already. Just a few students can do so much to get people to games. So, it's no use bashing students on here ...

I am usually a first level student but no lie everybody, the band gives me headaches....they are great no doubt but that and the buzzer give my already damaged brain a permanent ache...I tend to try and sit on the other side if I can find a seat lol....

I agree. We all know folks from TH would rather support IU/PU than State. LIke Revolution said above, people are gun shy when it comes to ISU athletics. Remember the build up for Quincy and how that turned out? :(

There were very close to 7000 people there, probably not 7000, but close. It was a very large crowd - the best in a few years - and the team laid an egg against a bad in-state rival. That leaves a bad taste. I've been to plenty of hyped, well-attended games in which this has happened. Couple that with several good starts over the last several years followed by a complete collapse, and I have a tough time blaming casual fans for keeping the team at arm's length at this point.

BTW, did you get the memo that while you're complaining about support of ISU, you have a UK avatar? Don't you think that's a big part of the problem? Maybe you should back it up if you're going to dish it out.:naughty:

Rev nailed it - the Ball State game is a GREAT example, when you get people to come to the games and you lay an egg then you are going to have a HARD time getting those folks to come back to the games. Many of us noted how big of a hit our fan base would take after that loss and we kind of went and forgot about it, but it really makes a lot of sense. That was a horrible Ball State team, that has scored 35 and 49 points their last 2 games - both losses needless to say.

Those of you traveling great distances to catch the game - major ups (in the words of Stew Scott) for that!

I support the Trees!!

I don't think anyone is questioning that - you are around here posting in support often. However the fact that you post with a UK icon is troublesome to some people around here, it's really no different than having a PU or IU logo and posting in support of the Sycamores.

Or a Titans logo for that matter... :)

I know...I know...you lost a bet. Maybe they can let you go back to having something Sycamore related now? Or do you have to wait until the season is over?

Speaking of avatars...I went out looking for a new avatar and found this...too friggin' big though! Dang...would have been a funny one I think.

Yeah once the Colts get beat then I can change it out - he actually game me permission to chance it out, but I wanted to make sure that he got his satisfaction out of it... lol I like that proposed avatar you found, very clever!
