Big Ten has decide to forget it's roots and move it's men's basketball tourney to Washington DC in 2017. I bet Nebraska and Iowa fans are thrilled to death with that decision.

Geez, that makes all the sense in the world?? Typically Delaney--all he cares about is $$$. I can see it rotating around, but what's wrong with Indianapolis, Chicago, and Detroit? In Big Ten country!

What is the rationale for making such a bone headed decision? Where I come from---if you have a good thing and things are running smoothly---then u leave it the hell alone!
Please tell me this is a joke!:barf:

Although it is disappointing for the city, it certainly is not a long-lasting commitment and like the rotation with Chicago, it will be back to Indy. Having the tourney in DC will cost fans likely DOUBLE what it would cost in Indy and Chicago is already much higher than Indy too so my guess is that they will eventually "see the light." I have no fear whatsoever that Indy will remain in rotation for a long time.

Rationale?? The admission of Maryland and Rutgers; plus the Penn State crowd will like this move. There won't be A LOT of Penn St fans at the event but this is part of the Big Ten commissionors' plan to claim some of the NYC/DC/etc TV Market for the Big Ten

You and I can roll out the red carpet for Elgin and his contingent. I'll bring the beer!
Great plan. I like the concept. One consistent aspect of Indy, if they lose something, they fill in the blanks. I totally think they MoVal is a perfect fit. I almost guarantee that Indy will end up with the Big Ten Tourney 50% of the time, because it is what the fans want.

Yeah, I think so, too. I have to think this was negotiated in the contract when Maryland and Rutgers joined. 4Q was also spot on when it was probably also done to finalize BTN TV deals and get them firmly planted into those new markets.

What was also lost in the chaff of this announcement was the Big Ten announcing their affiliation with the Pinstripe Bowl (vs the ACC) until 2021, they'll face an ACC team from now until 2019...

this is the big ten 'announcing' their presence on the east coast --- fyi, they ALSO announced they have/will soon open an office in Manhattan...
