The Sycamores have had a few players really step up this season but which Sycamore has been the biggest surprise this season.

Aaron Carter: Has been a huge lift this season, early on when called upon due to injuries to Kelly, Lathan and Marshall he has stepped up big averaging 7 points a game this season all while shooting a career best 48% from the field and a blistering 45% on 24 of 53 shooting from long range all while adding 2 and half rebounds a game. His numbers have been much better over the last month, Carter is averaging just over 18 minutes per game this season.

Josh Crawford: Has moved into a starting role as of late, when the matchup warrants it at least. The senior has had is best season as a Sycamore and really been a bright spot for the Sycamores. Josh is averaging 14 minutes a game and averaging 4 points a game on 46% shooting from the field, none of the Sycamore big men are called upon to score - so any scoring we get from them has been a nice bonus. Josh has excelled at the free throw line shooting 80% on 23 of 29 shooting from the stripe. Josh has averaged 3 rebounds a game, 1 steal and 1 block a game for the Sycamores. His defense has really been a bright spot this season, establishing himself as one of the best shot blockers on this team.

Koang Doluony: The red shirt freshman is coming of his best game or best half of basketball of his young career. The freshman has a sweet stroke from long range, however he has struggled somewhat this year shooting only 30% from long rang. He has shot much better inside the 3 point line shooting 43% all while averaging 4 points per game. He is 12 of 14 from the free throw line and the athletic freshman has been pulling down a board a game.

Isiah Martin: Coming of an injury ridden sophomore campaign Martin has come into his own as of late. The always electric shot blocker is averaging a block per game this season. His minutes per game (13) have been on the rise the past month of the season. He is averaging 4 points per game shooting nearly 60% from the field. The JR. has grabed 2 rebounds per game this season.

Rashad Reed: The Senior from Ohio has been playing out of position the past month due to some injuries but he is having a career year for the Sycamores. Reed is averaging just over 10 points a game while averaging 30 minutes of action. He has excelled at the free throw line shooting 80 % on 62 of 78 shooting from the line including some clutch free throws late in games. The PG/SG averages about 4 rebounds and 2 assists a game and it's hard to imagine where the Sycamores would be without his lift.

Carl Richard: The athletic sophomore is coming into his own this season for the Sycamores. It's no secret that Richard excels on the boards, averaging 5 boards per game this season. His numbers this season are up across the board, Carl is averaging 8 points per game all while improving his overall shooting percentage (41%) and has shot the ball well from the line at 75%

So you guys tell me who among these 6 players has been the biggest surprise this season? All have played well for us, but one of these guys has stood out above the rest, who do you think it is?

I voted for Carter. I wasn't the biggest AC fan coming into the year but he has really stepped up his game this year with all the injuries. I think if Crawford had gotten the minutes he has got lately that he would be my answer because I think he could have helped us a lot more and gave us somewhat of a post prescence all year long if he was given more minutes. But the seven who have been playing lately have all stepped up their game since Marshall and Lathan have been out.

Thanks for sharing your response FBGM, I personally voted for Reed because I think he has really had a good season. He could have really fallen off the map this season but he hasn't let it happen. He has knocked down some really big shots for us this season and he has done a lot of nice things.

I could have voted for nearly any of these guys, they have all played really well for us. But if I had to pick one it would be Reed. But you are dammed right I 2 was not high on Carter to start the season but it has been hard not to be impressed with him so far this season.

I think realistically, you can only expect three players in the running for this:
Carter
been a go to scorer, reminds me of Kyle Korver sooooo much....
Reed
Turned himself into a true point guard of sorts.....
Koang
Scoring threat, bit of a Rashard Lewis type...

Coming from an AC critic at times...

So Aaron Carter is goin play in the NBA?

I don't think that's what DG was getting at, he was saying that they are comparable. Maybe in the sense that they look alike? I mean AC has shot the 3 ball pretty well this year - granted he does not have the size or dare I say athletic ability that Korver had. Maybe it was a bit of a stretch, but I don't think he was insinuating that AC will ever play basketball after next season is over.

if my numbers are correct -- Rashad Reed moved to #10 (111) on the Career 3FG list;

1. Michael Menser, 1997-2001.....283
2. Eddie Bird, 1988-91.....................180
3. Chad Adkins, 1996-99................149
4. Greg Thomas, 1990-93...............130
5. Marcus Howard, 2000-04..........125
6. Gabe Moore, 2004-08................120
7. Rob Cheatam, 1986-90..............117
8. Travis Inman, 1988-92................116
9. David Moss, 2002-05..................115
10. Rashard Reed, 2008-Present………..111
=============================
11. Matt Broerman, 1999-2003...109
12.*Jordan Printy, 2008-Pres……..96
13.*Aaron Carter, 2007-Pres……...80
14.*Harry Marshall, 2006-Pres…...70

* -- career position is probable

well, if he grows another 5-7 inches and loses zero coordination; he might find a spot overseas

Ok back on topic here boys, enough of the post collegiate career of AC. All of this would just mean I am a complete fool if he were to play basketball after Indiana State. I would rather not discuss the possibilities of that ever happening.

Which will come first...

AC continuing his BBall career as a pro (somewhere)??

or

Morgan using 'loose' and 'lose' correctly?

damn -- should make this a poll...

nooooo I was talking about his innate ability to make plays...Korver in my opinion was never overly athletic...to be honest I think Carter's hustle makes up for the athleticism...I just see the clutchness...the go to guy shooter in him...the one guy that has the heart and the guts to make it happen...I love it...

I don't agree with a lot of you. AC doesn't surprise me a bit. I voted for KD.

Same here.
AC isn't that much of a surprise to me. He's doing what he's always thought he could do.

KD is the biggest surprise for me. I was "sell" on him early.... that has certainly changed.

I'm shocked that anyone would vote for JC or IM. Neither has changed substantially from last year.
Reed has done ok as our "emergency" PG. But to me the only vote that makes sense is KD.
