A great honor for a truly great coach, who was an even better man. My family was lucky enough to get to know Coach King and his family pretty well during their time in Terre Haute - wonderful people and great representatives of Indiana State. We were fortunate to lure him away from New Mexico. Thank goodness Hulman Center had an elevator!!!

Ditto your remarks . . . A great person and coach

If I had to name any one person who i believe was responsible for the growth of ISU sports it is SOB ( as he called himself...Sorry Old Bob) Amazing what he did in a few short years. He and Richard Landini got things done.

I'll never forget the night during the Fall '79, where just after being hired to teach/coach in the Bedford-NL School System, we chartered a bus to the 'Nap to see the Pacers & Celtics. While seated reasonably "near the rafters" @ Market Square Arena, I began talking about LB & King, and the next thing I know, none other than BOB KING turned around in his seat in FRONT of me and just smiled. We chatted a tad, then resumed watching the game. My wife flipped out...

King brought the IDEA of BIG TIME Division I hoop to Terre Haute. We haven't looked back since...
