University of Evansville basketball player Bryan Bouchie announced today that he is withdrawing from school. Bouchie played in 12 of the Purple Aces' first 14 games this season, and averaged 8.0 points and 3.3 rebounds. He missed two of the last three games with illness. A native of Washington, Ind. and graduate of Washington High School, Bouchie attended Valparaiso University as a freshman in 2007-08, then transferred to UE at the end of the 2007-08 school year. He sat out the 2008-09 season under NCAA transfer rules.

"At this time I believe that it is in the best interest for my health and well-being to walk away from the game of basketball," Bouchie said. "Evansville is a great place with amazing people that has allowed me to make great friends. Everyone at the University of Evansville has been very supportive of me, and for that my family and I thank all of you."

Added UE Coach Marty Simmons, "We certainly want whatever is best for Bryan in the long term. We care a lot about Bryan and his family, and we wish them the best."

Bouchie's had serious health problems - pneumonia. I'll bet he transfers to USI, thus still having two yrs. of eligibility.

Bank, be easy on him - I don't want you to break your bank, I hear it's not open on Sunday and I really don't know how much money the Doctor has in his bucket for a rainy day...

The way that article reads it doesn't sound too positive, hopefully he can get whatever he has going on taken care of. That's to bad, I never like to see kids leaving programs for whatever reason. I saw a lot of kids walk away from track and cross country while I was running for state. Never really understood how people could just up and walk away from something they loved so much. I mean it's a once in a life time chance to do something that only a select group can say they were able to do... I would give anything to go back and do it again - I mean actually it's time for me to move on to bigger and better things, but I will always miss it.

as those girls sang in the 60s: love is here and now it's gone.

who knows where. who knows why. it just happens

That's what "Farty Marty" said on TV tonight. But of course, Farty doesn't realize HIS ROLE in Bouchie's burn out, does he? He's burning a lot of people out in E-ville.

Once Bryan gets over the pneumonia, I thnk your see him for his final two yrs. in the "Screaming Eagle" open offense... where he'll have fun playing the game again (i.e. Tyson Schnitker).

Not to start anything but I have some valid sources that Bouchie was a big pill head in high school. Hope that's not a reason why..
