I’ve long felt Mitch was the least poachable of our head coaches. Was told the same by numerous people close to him. He and his wife are both ISU grads, his kids are somewhat close by, his wife likes her job, etc. The Smiley news makes me even more confident. I would think Mitch was in the loop the whole time. If he was thinking of leaving I’d think Smiley would be more inclined to try to get the ISU job. My guess is Smiley knew Mitch wasn’t going anywhere and if he wanted a head coaching job he’d have to go somewhere else. In fact it wouldn’t shock me if he wasn’t told to go do a great job and then come back when Mitch retires.Congrats coach smiley
