Thanks for posting - man they just can't keep a coach around UNI - heck of a feeder system for big time coaching programs? What do you think sycamoretrack? What's this most recent move all about?
If he took a position (assume an assistant position) wouldn't he be taking a pay cut? I know it's AK and all but still he was the head coach of 2 programs... Right?
WOW!!!!! I head here before the letsrun forum every day at work... but I can imagine the threads are definitely swarming with this news. When ?Bucknam? let go of the long-time jumps coach, a lot of people on the boards were wondering if he was going to bring Geopfert in his place. Guess the speculations were correct.
Sure, it might be a bit more prestigious to work at Arkansas over UNI, but I agree Twitch. There is no way he didn't take a pay cut. The move doesn't make much sense in my eyes, but I guess you gotta do whatcha gotta do...
The move makes a lot of sense! He wasn’t making that much at UNI and I would bet that he all most doubled what he was making. The man is an unbelievable recruiter; Bucky (the old UNI head coach) needed him at Arkansas for that reason. Plus the chance to coach at a program that has the history and tradition that Arkansas has and the fact that they are in the hardest conference in the nation made it a no brainier.
This move was a plus for Coach Geopfert and Indiana State Track & Field and a HUGH downer for UNI!
Now the question is.............How many current UNI athletes will make the move with him to Arkansas?
