El' Roberto was doing his best to hide his emotions...I can still recall the 1st day after he was hired @ HC by Bob King, walking thru the Arena hallways like a new happy pup!
I mean again here… I don’t know. No disrespect to Bob Warn absolutely at all.
But what was John McNichols excuse? He didn’t have one. He was in the same situation during the basically the same tenure & will go down as one of the most successful if not the most successful in Indiana State history. One of the most respected names in college Track & Field history. Sure sure sure… He could have talked about the “money” until about 5ish years ago we didn’t have an indoor track that could even host a meet. As athletes we traveled across the country to multi million dollar indoor tracks some of the fastest tracks to race on in the country - meanwhile Monday through Thursday for decades athletes were practicing on a non-regulation unsafe track.
I mean Bob - it’s Indiana State everyone lacks resources… We could fix it but we choose not to. We fund things that shouldn’t be funded. This stadium could have easily seated 4,000+ but we wanted to play D1AA football at a 3 win average level. So that’s great. I just don’t buy the sob story because I’ve seen other programs including this current one outperform it regardless of the situation.
I mean “money rules” to a point… Money rules until you have vision and you approach Greg Gibson and tell him you have a dream and you want to build the best Cross Country course in the nation and he provides you the land and the resources to do just that. I don’t mean to shed negative light on this video but it’s pretty important!
Money. Will. Always. Be. An. Issue. @ Indiana State even if we cut the football program which will likely never happen. So you’ve got to find a way - this squad here didn’t get good because they found more money and they found more seating in the stadium. They just have a coach that transcended…

I took it as we couldn't host if we wanted to because our facilities were not good enough. The same would go for track both indoor and outdoor at the time. Anyway I hope we win national championships in all our sports.
