Coachoftheyear.com is up and running again. I tossed in the first two votes for Trent. Let's get this moving early! As a reminder you can vote from multiple email's and computers. Also multiple browsers work too and deleting cookies on the same browser works. So if your had two browsers and deleted your cookies after voting twice you could then vote again with two more emails from the same two browsers. Then a fifth time from your smart phone or laptop. Etc. Etc.

Hold on, how can you be 0 and 1, not even played a game yet vs. someone in your own division and still be voted on for coach of the year?? This aint a poll that says show us your approval rating, we can create a poll and see what his approval rating is - I'd assume it'd be very high. But he aint getting a vote from me for coach of the year just yet, I will wait a few weeks into conference play to pass judgement before I think about voting for someone coach of the year. Not a knock on Trent at all, I like what he did last year and this off season - but we are voting for coach of the year, this year 2011 - not last year!

Really? .....really? I mean we had the worst FCS team in the country and now have something ISU, Terre Haute, and Indiana can be proud of. 7 of our players are getting looks from the NFL. The entire program has been transformed....scholarship limits raised twice, new locker room, new field turf, new practice field, new video board, and great kids (on and off the field). As a former player I can't thank Trent and everyone else involved for saving the program from certain doom. Coach of the Year???? Your damn right. I'll vote on your behalf until you harden up. Geez I mean who the hell else are you gonna vote for?????

I'm not going to vote for anyone until some games have been played - it's ridiculous, we are moving in on week 2 of the College Football season and your asking me to make a vote for coach of the year. Shows how unofficial of a poll this is, for starters you can vote more than once and for seconds you can vote for a coach before a game has even been played. Don't tell me about all that has been done in the off season, I've acknowledged how far this program has come over and over again and Trent is probably most important in keeping the program afloat - but again this is a coach of the year award, not what you've done over the past 3 season... Coach of the year for what? His team hasn't won a game this year, basically by voting your suggesting that he's coach of the year even if the Sycamores finish below .500. Thanks to him the standard is greater than that around here, we expect much more and so does your former coach...

It's like opening MLB All Star ballots or Pro Bowl ballots to fans before the season even starts - it totally takes the credibility out of the honor. So vote away, I will wait until he proves worthy of the honor for the 2011 season.

Heck your stacking the deck the way it is, pumping in multiple votes for someone on your own behalf - well done you've figured out to cheat the system. With that said, really? really? Is it worth that much to you? Is that the way to show your appreciation for a job well done?]

BTW, I love what Trent has done for Indiana State football - it's exceptional! He's done an outstanding job!

Last year we got started when you would prefer us to get started and were wayyyyyyy behind on everyone else...vote people and vote often...

And on the subject of cheating...as NASCAR says "if you ain't cheating you ain't trying" or "rubbing is racing"

SSOM,

Sounds like you don't like the poll period. Fine....go build your own. As for me I'll vote for a ISU's coach in anticipation that he deserves the award....if we win games we'll attract more votes. If we don't then sounds like fair-weather fans like yourself might take your votes somewhere else. As for multiple votes I vote once for myself and once for my wife. The system allows that ....it's how "they" designed the website....kinda like how they decided to open polls for voting. In the end a panel decides the winner....but votes count in getting your coach in front of the panel...hence the urgency to build momentum early. Some other schools have 900 votes....I guess their fans think differently. I guess what burns me up in all this is that you allude to the fact that you might vote for someone else.

Vote for trent...yes he deserves it....how can you be a sycamore fan and not know that he deserves it....he pretty muched saved the football program and not just saved it but transformed a solid team...we know the in's and outs of what we have been through here as a sycamore family he deserves it again in my book...

Oh 45 you don't have to worry about it, I think the polling is flawed and I won't vote regardless of how well or poor the Sycamores do this season. My thought is simple, if the Sycamores play well this season and finish North of .500 then they will continue to get respect and the recognition will come - regardless of who votes in some silly coachoftheyear poll.

Explain to me how this example is any different - go to mvcmvp.com and vote for the most valuable player in the conference. A bunch of people go and vote for who they think is most valuable befor the player even steps on the field. That's silly, what if that player has a bad year? What if that player is the QB and he plays well below expectations?

This is no different, you all can throw all the mud at me you want - I really don't care... I'm not voting in a poll for Coach of the Year when a single game hasn't been played. For what it's worth I didn't vote last year either, for the same reason. With that said, had I voted I would have found NO coach in all of college football more worthy of such an award.

Thanik You SSOM. Why would anybody vote this early...and why would anybody care about this poll so freakin early. The only "poll" we should be worried about is the W-L record of our team. The more W's we get, the more national exposure the team, coach, and school will get. This will help us get better quality recruits.

We are 0-1 right now. Let's worry about us getting to 1-1.

Most fans can't change the win/loss column....other than getting people in seats, helping identify recruits, and making donations we won't have much impact on the W/L. This is something we can do (without much effort) to build program recognition and to say thank you to Trent.

to say thank you to Trent.

How is this saying Thank You to Trent? Please explain? It's a flawed poll, games have not even been played, Trent would agree that a Coach of the YEAR award is based on your performance during that season. Like it or not, in terms of wins and losses. So 45 your telling me if this teams finishes south of .500 you still think Trent should have votes for Coach of the YEAR, I'm sorry my friend I can't support that. However I can continue to support coach and this team by having a season ticket to my name, attending home games, bringing friends, driving 9 hours and spending around $400 (ticket price, hotel, lodging, food/drink) to watch the Sycamores play Penn State, also have a ticket to the WKU game and am planning on attending - but you guys are right, fair weather helmet hoping fan for not voting in a coach of the YEAR poll...

If the poll read: Coach of LAST year then i'd probably vote for him (as long as the poll didn't open up before week 2), just like I wouldn't vote for Greg Lansing, John McNichols or anyone else at Indiana State before the season had even begun.

It's obvious that SSOM got up on the wrong side of his bed this morning only to find that somebody took a crap in his bowl of Wheaties…..LOL!!

Blame it on Manning, because I usually don't eat breakfast... lol

To be honest I'm not in a bad mood, I just think it's silly how awards like this work, anytime fans get involved your going to get a differing opinion and mine is not that Trent isn't worthy or not - I don't think ANY coach in the country has proved worthy of a coach of the year honor today, September 8 with 1 game being played. If I was a major league pitcher I'd hope that All Star voting not start based on 1 single game, you don't vote for a coach of the year, player of the year, owner of the year, fans of the year or anything else of the year before the YEAR has even started - it's silly, sorry it is.

This is less about "Coach of the Year," and more about publicity for the program. Nobody can debate the fact that we don't know how the season will turn out, but it would be great publicity if we voted Trent into the award. People will instinctively look at this award and think, "Wow! Indiana State must really be getting good!" Perception, my friend, it's all about perception...

It's cool man. You have every right to vote or not as does the rest of the Sycamore Nation....I look at from a different point of view...last year we started mid season and couldn't make up enough ground. I know other schools are voting and know I won't be voting for anyone else so I'm casting them now. A big difference between us is that I'm not trying to debate how this award should be given out. I'm doing my best to support my school/team/and this coach. Basically, other coaches are racking up votes now so the way I see it is we can start competing or sit on the sidelines until halftime.

And I 2 am doing everything I can to support my school/team/and this coach. They've done a great job and I have been pointed that out very clearly throughout our conversation, however I feel that if the Sycamores have the kind of year that they are capable of having it shouldn't matter what some fans think in some poll when voting started before the year even began. Either your worthy of the award or your not - if a panel eventually decides on it then I trust that they will look at all factors when making a final choice.

Lastly, I don't consider going on and voting for something as many times as I can "doing everything I can", I view that as taking credibility out of the award. How flawed is a system in which people can go on and vote numerous times? As if voting before week 2 wasn't enough, people can vote numerous times.

So it's just not 1 thing - but at the very least our conversation today has kept this topic at the top of the line which means several people have probably seen your link already. Basically if they voted last year (we had a bunch from here who did) then they are probably going to vote again.

The main reason there are polls like this is that it gives people like us something to do when we visit places like this. Apparently it is a successful poll, don't you think?
