I’m not a college football fan, but how is beating Eastern Illinois a big win?

Because it's the win that gets ISU 2-0 on the season... last time Trees opened 2-0? 1986... 39 seasons ago

Trees also "recently" opened 2-0 in 1983 and 1984.

It also pulls the Trees a BIITTTT closer to .500 vs. Eastern Illinois State Teachers College, ISU's most played (91 games) rival, series is now 42-45-4

It’s big for the program. Rivalry game, and they pretty much played mistake free football. Last week, they struggled at times with an opponent that they should have beat hands down. Our defense was really good today. But if you don’t follow the program, then my answer wouldn’t register with your question.

Thanks for the explanation. I just assumed EIU was a program we should beat hands down too. Didn’t realize they were on our same level in football.

EIU struggled last year, but it has a rich and storied football history with Sean Payton, Tony Romo, Mike Shanahan, and Jimmy Garapolo to mention the NFL coach and QB's who are alums.

I guess I must also as I invested 7 hours in the Notre Dame thrashing of an SEC team on the road and the gritty victory by IU over an extremely tough Iowa team. The Hoosiers knocked Mark Gronowski out of the game which might have been decisive, but we shall never really know. It was a rugged, smash mouth defensive battle in Iowa City.

I was surprised how tough Iowa played especially after IU just thrashed Illinois. Arkansas sucks this year.

I’m an Ole Miss fan because my daughter and my out of state tuition went there, so that makes me a fan.
Big game against Georgia today! No clue what The Rebels have after barely squeaking by Washington State. I’d say it’s up there with the biggest game Kiffin has coached.

LSU looses to Vandy. Now Vandy is good this year, but I know lots of LSU fans living in Texas, and Kelly is going to take a beating for this loss.

This Lane Kiffin show is getting tiresome! You going to pay that much money to a guy with a goofy past, and has never won A SEC or A National Championship?

Desperate teams make dumb decisions. How any coach would consider LSU after that governor fiasco is mind boggling.

Meanwhile, OKST just hired the North Texas coach and VT hired James Franklin. Both of which will end up being great hires. Morris is known for developing qbs, and Franklin doesn't have to win a natty with VT, just has to get them back to relevance.

Who would want to deal with the pressure cooker at LSU. You lose a game, you will get scrutinized to death by those fans who demand a SEC championship every 2 years, and a National Championship every 5. Just a foolish move when you’re a legend in Oxford.

IU like last year tanned Purdues hide with authority! If the tables were turned, Purdue would do the same. Yes IU probably has a larger NIL fund to recruit, but lots of their players are 3 star with a few 4 star guys sitting at #2 in the nation. I for one am absolutely amazed how this program dug itself from the dead to a powerhouse of a program.
